The Jewish community in Sydney is comparatively small (around 40,000 to 45,000 out of around a four million population) and concentrated in the wealthier Eastern Suburbs. I lived in the South and never met anyone I knew to be Jewish for a couple of years for instance. But Wiki says a third of the suburb of Bondi is Jewish.

It's depressing how common that is. Most of the Jews I have met have been too young to remember the Holocaust, but I have met a lot of people who said they had relatives in the Nazi camps.
