A few people posting in this thread don't seem to know what it means to objectify someone. They also don't seem to understand that the objectification doesn't have to be permanent or even conscience.

And no one seems to be noticing the fact that, in the context of the study, all it means is a different form of visual processing. People tend to visually process women more like they do objects than like they do men. They look at various parts of the woman, while they look at the man as a single cohesive whole.

That certainly might mean that women are more likely to be viewed as "objects", but the study didn't get into how people thought about or treated men and women. They just looked at how we process images of them.

I've decided that I don't really care about being objectified as a man. People may look at or think of me in anyway they want, but in the end; I won't care about what other people think. It might be because I am highly introverted, but I tend to be completely unaware of any social cues from the people around me anywhere I go. I take a "stiff upper lip" approach to this. I will defend my own interests if need be, but for the most part; it is something which I feel that I can safely ignore.
