b) There are a couple of reasons for this and nothing to do with his ability but more with the team set up. Having said that he did score two hat tricks this year already...finally it seems that Argentina are playing to his strengths...he is now finally scoring goals. Like yesterday against Germany. Of course the real measure is in comps and not friendlies really. Having said that I would put some money down on him getting the Golden Boot in 2014, if I was a gambling man.

c) shit happens

d) evidently! :p

a) I never said it was rational.

b) He should be playing for the team, not the team playing for him. If that is his expectation then I will ammend "a".

c) It's more that a team saw a way to beat them and they fell to bits... as it were.

d) Here we agree.

a) Irrational as you seem unable/unwilling to state why you hate him

b) Never heard of a team being built around a specific player?

c) I like parsnips...roasted with honey (and a dash of pepper)

d) Yeeeessss...I know someone in the field of professional psychiatry....(well I don't but I couldn't think of anything else to type :p )

a) I've identified a rational reason but Messi is mostly irrationally hated. Which form it is is actually irrelevant to the outcome.

b) I have. They're ultimately extrememly fragile and deliberately injuring that player to take him out would actually make sense. After all if they underpin everything... ten men should be able to win. (I'm a little unclear about what happens when the goalie is sent off but if the goalie were to do the injuring, as I understand it, the advantage is one man bigger.)

c) I should try that.

d) No longer exists.

a) I must have missed that memo...sorry...I honestly have no idea why you dislike Messi so much...

b) yeah that's why when you build a team around someone you make sure that they can take it otherwise it is pointless as you say...and Messi is able to look after himself. If a player goes out to "do" a player a perm injury...well that player would be pretty much vilified. Yes the Haaland/Keane thing...that was payback and Alf got off worse.

c) tis lurvely...the pepper (not too much) really makes it...

a) Probably as far as we can go with this one.

b) I don't mean permanently, just enough to take them out of the match. Permanently is evil.

c) Pepper can make a huge difference. Take, steamed broccoli and melted butter, a little pepper makes it even nicer for such a simple meal.

Tim Tebow. He's the Peter Molyneux of the NFL. High expectations, loads of hype, then failure to meet said expectations.

I don't think Beckham is an overrated player, his late-United days were certainly enjoyable. Yet he chose a career as a celebrity rather than a footballer at a relatively young age for his calibre. And of course, it is undeniable that his worldwide fame comes from his non-footballing attributes.

I voted for Danica Patrick since I don't consider sitting down and making left turns for hours to be "athletic".

Jonny Wilkinson, very good at kicks and keeping calm under pressure, he just didn't seem to be able to get the back row moving and for a period was everything wrong with English Rugby, kick it for territory, let the forwards walk it over the line. Good player just overrated in the sense that he 'won' England the 2003 World Cup, very injury prone too but id have some occasional hard tackles.

some people thing race car driving is a sports, and she the most overrated race car driver so i put here their

First of all the addition of Danica Patrick on the poll is biased as she is the only race car driver listed on the poll, secondly she's only in her first full season of the NASCAR Nationwide series. I'll grant you the benefit of the doubt though as her open wheel career was somewhat lackluster, only producing one win ( still it was better than a lot of others ). If you only wanted to stick to over-rated NASCAR drivers the two prime examples don't include Danica Patrick but rather Joey Logano and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Logano hasn't had the stellar career that some have hoped for the one who held the nickname sliced bread as in the greatest thing since, so far he's only two wins to his credit, and hasn't had a top 10 points finish yet. Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the opposite side of the spectrum had about a 5-8 year slump where he would struggle to attain even a top 5 points finish and earn wins, he seems to have gotten over that in the last few years though.

If you want to add Open wheel racing to the discussion I believe Lewis Hamilton is now a worthy addition as he hasn't exactly set the world on fire after winning the F-1 drivers championship by a meager one point advantage in 2008. Of course he's still managed top 5 points finishes which make that a moot point. Perhaps even Michael Schumacher who recently came out of retirement is worthy of being added to the list of racing drivers here ( his post retirement career has proven to be a nightmare so far ).

I don't think anyone really had high exeptations of Tim Tebow. Many people thought he would never be a starting QB.

Wow. David Beckham is leading. He is very good at his sport. However, it is just his taste of women and his way of being the most hated person.

i agree with the fact i don't think he should be leading. Maybe if i put A-rod on here like i was planing on doing, but change my mind. He wouldn't be leading because he the only athlete i can think of more hated that beckham
