Well (sorry Nadkor!) Beckham did two things really really really well...free kicks and crosses. He was world class at that. However the rest of his game was...slightly above average.

Not true. He was a very good player who had two particular things he could do as well as or better than anyone else in the world. You don't play for the teams he played for when he played for them (before LA) if all but two areas of your game are slightly above average.
That Beckham is more famous for his looks and celebrity is undeniable, but he was actually a very good footballer in the late 90s/early 2000s, even on into the mid-2000s.
I was ribbing you with the slightly above average comment...
