Except perhaps her self-respect by caving in to some talking heads.

In which she's caved in to a load of xenophobic, stupid, uninformed, nationalistic, tub-thumping, sabre-rattling, 'Murikan patriot news anchors.

Honesty I want whoever is best to win, not whoever is weeping an American flag. Soni wore a pink swimsuit, why aren't they criticising her too? They probably say that Liu Ciang deserved to loose. I think he's an exceptional athlete, and his injury is unfortunate.
Honestly, the Olympics are about having fun, not winning.

If I were her, it'd be worth the potential repercussions from the IOC and USOC just for the lulz.

Although I am amazed that a pundit on Fox News proves that Fox News (or Faux News, tee hee!) is not a news channel. I haven't heard of them doctoring 911 calls and photos of Zimmerman.
I for one don't give a shit what some pudit's opinion on Fox News is. Just like I don't care about the opinions of pundits on MSNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, BBC, or PBS. This proves nothing other than some take proper Olympic fashion a little too far. Typical of the anti-Fox crowd though. You can't see the complete leftist bias of all the other cable media but you must demonize a cable media channel fordaring to allow Conservative voices to be heard.spreading uninformed, unhelpful and vitriolic bullshit. Quite appalling.

I have heard that it is a humorous way in which some left-wing Americans (key word: some) mock American Southern ultranationalism.
I don't call the US "America". I call the US "United States". America is a continent.

And what point is that? Ignorance is bliss? Newscorp affiliated media outlets such as the Fox networks have a long identifiable history of not only making non-issues into mountainous debates. Gabby Dougalas is just the latest in a long line of misrepresentations and media white noise. The fact that they've had to stoop to that level for a "look at me" moment smacks of even less journalistic credibility than they usually have.
