Nope. Ascended VPs serve out the remainder of the dead guy's term, they don't get a fresh term of their own.

Or philosophy threads, for that matter.NSG has a very small base of intellectuals who are capable of debating philosophy intelligently. The vast majority of threads on radical politics (anarcho-whatevers and socialism) end in the center-right/left majority crying "This is ridiculous/'It would never work'" (whatever that means), without substantively addressing the arguments made (if a socialist talks about how self-ordering worker communes could theoretically determine distribution of resources by voluntary collective-decision making, "That would never work" isn't an adequate response. Just like "This is ridiculous" isn't a proper response to an anarcho-liberal describing how spontaneous order would give rise to legal arbitration, etc.)
As for philosophy threads, everyone on NSG and his dog thinks he's a great philosopher, and the demographic is pretty homogenous here. NSGphilosophy is overrun with bumper-sticker littlenietzsches and solipsists, who think they look badass by saying things like "God is Dead", "Cogito ergo sum", and "You can't trust your senses". Look to any philosophy thread (even this "Is coercion moral" question), and you won't find anyone doing the intellectual legwork to make an argument. Even if philosophy requires proofs (just like geometry or any other scientific field), you find one-line posts (usually beginning with the insipid "Well, I think that...", implying that anyone really gives a damn about what "you think" - we're looking for debate: for some contribution to the intellectual community, not your whimsical opinions) like "There is no such thing as morality!" or "Coercion is just a tool!"
While either of those (namely the former, because the latter doesn't address the question of morality at all, it just talks about "coercion" - whatever that is - and how it can be utilized for a purpose) may be true, the vast majority of NSGers who write that sort of stuff don't provide a priori (or any) proofs/reasoning for their views. If they do provide some garbage (and I'm speaking about proponents of all philosophical views - there are idiot anarcho-liberals/voluntarists here too) to substantiate their claims, they don't recognize that it's garbage (in fact, they usually think it's the most fucking brilliant thing ever seen). We get posts like "Whaddya say to that, smart guy?" - for someone who actually has done fairly significant reading/personal work in philosophy, this just makes us sick (like some random observer advising a physician about his diagnosis, then adding, "Ever think of that, did ya?").
There are other people who enjoy studying and debating philosophy on these boards, and I trust that they'll agree with me when I say, I have gained nothing, intellectually, from debating philosophy with other NSGers.
I personally don't mind most debates about specific subjects (animal rights, abortion, mainstream politics, etc.), because these usually consist of people making positive claims about the world (which are fairly easy to disprove, given how ludicrous the assumptions of most NSGers - or people in general - are). I hate these "What if" or "Greatest of" threads, though. Most threads here are garbage, but those threads aren't even shiny garbage.

I ask because I was thinking about this after I saw two threads about "Best American President". I don't really mind those threads, but I can see how people can get sick of them.
For me, it's any thread about religion, because they all end up the same. Also, there's already been three "I'm sick of this thread" posts, so save it for some other day.
