And he's gone through Federer and Djokovic to win other tournaments as well. I just don't believe Olympic Gold is nearly as good as a Grand Slam. In his interview with John McEnroe (on NBC) after the match, he was asked which would be better: Olympic Gold or a Grand Slam. Murray answered very indirectly, saying it was nice to win Gold, but he wants to win the U.S. Open as well, leading me to believe he values a Grand Slam more..

He didn't even talk about the US open to BBC. I reckon he only said that because it was an american network.

Eh, maybe my post is sour. I'm not at all a fan of Murray. Perhaps just a little disappointed that Djokovic lost and Nadal didn't compete?

And did the BBC ask him the same question on whether or not he valued Olympic Gold or a Grand Slam? Otherwise I don't think he would have thought about it..

Avoiding constantly going "USA USA USA" and people from other countries wanting their teams to do well does not equate to US bashing. I wouldn't be surprised if you would cheerfully bash other countries though.

That said, I'm going to be a massive hypocrit now and express my great pleasure at the floundering of the Aussies. As a Brit with Australian relatives, I am delighted - and with the Russians getting so many silvers rather than golds, we might finish 3rd here.

They're doing very well. Might let this set slip though if they don't pick up the pace.

Mixed Doubles Final might go to a third set...looks like Azarenka/Mirnyi are coming back. (Mirnyi is a doubles specialist, by the way...whereas Azarenka, Murray, and Robson are all Singles specialists.)

Lol on facebook someone posted a picture Ollie Williams (the fast talking black reporter from Family Guy) in front of two fencers and saying 'They be sword fighting' as the the bbc webpage for a fencing event stated that the real life reporter Ollie Williams for the BBC is at the fencing.

It's disappointing that they didn't get a gold, but a silver is still very good considering that they were a wildcard entry.

Shame about Robson and Murray. Azarenka and Mirnyinninnininin were the better players and complimented each other well. I'm afraid they managed to exploit Robson as a weak spot and Murray was too tired to react. Well done to Belarus.

Who do you want to win the 100m tonight and who do you think will win?

I want Gemili to win because he's young, British and it would be a great start for a future star. However, I think the final results will be this:
Bolt, Blake (close between the 2 but Bolt making it in the last 10m), Gatlin, Powell, Gay, Chambers, Gemili, Yamagata. That's probably not possible as I haven't seen the semi final draw yet, but if the top 8 went through then that's what it would be. I know Bailey won his race, but he was really pushing unlike most of the athletes I have named.

Wondered why I hadn't heard of him before. Mirnyininininininnininininininin had a big serve on him and hit hard, if not always in the court.

It's a shame about Robson and Murray, but considering they were wild-cards, and that Murray had just trounced Federer, a silver remains impressive. I wish we'd lost to a different team in the final however, I'm really not a fan of Azarenka or Belarus.

Hopefully Ohuruogu will perform to the best of her abilities, and I was kind of hoping Viet Nam would manage a medal at least, but that seems unlikely now... :(

True. Robson has one hell of a serve, but didn't cope too well when the pressure was on. Still, she'll improve

Yeah, both her and Murray are young and have proved they play well together. I'd like to see them play with each other at Wimbledon. Getting used to a new playing partner is hard and the IOC or BOC are stupid for putting the 2 finals so close together.

Rarely has anyone heard of doubles players. Max Mirnyi has won 6 Grand Slam Men's Doubles Titles (4 French Open and 2 U.S. Open) with partners Jonas Björkman and Daniel Nestor. He has also won 3 Grand Slam Mixed Doubles Titles (2 at the U.S. Open, 1 at Wimbledon) with Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.

He also has 39 other Men's Doubles Titles, and has held the #1 ranking often.

Murray's Men's Doubles best result was reaching the 2R at the U.S. and French Opens..while Robson has only reached one Grand Slam QF in Women's Doubles.

Needless to say, Mirnyi and Azarenka are far more experienced in doubles. Though Murray's and Robson's achievement of reaching the Final and earning a Silver Medal was pretty great, considering they were wild cards.

So, I was completely wrong and here are the finals in the order I predict they'll finish:

Bolt (jogged the last bit, so not as quick as other winners), Gatlin, Blake, Gay, Martina, Powell, Bailey, Thompson. Gatlin vs Bolt will be the real race here having watched the semis, but if Blake or Gay can tag along then things could get interesting. Bailey is the wild card, slow off the blocks but, like Bolt, can power through when he gets in his stride. Shame for both brits missing out by 0.3 and 0.04 respectively.

And did you see the IOC competitor from the Netherlands Antilles who finished with a 400m time of nearly 90 seconds?

I read the times, but didn't watch it. Did he collapse or something? They must've got through a heat to compete, so he can't simply be shit enough to get that time. Also, shame aboiut our runners and Pistorius. I wanted Blade Runner to get a medal, but not gold coz then people would start talking about his legs.
