No please, enlighten us - I'll be fascinated to see you come up with an alternative 'best British day in athletics ever'.
Because really, there hasn't been.
But the problem here may be one of trans-Atlantic linguistic differences.
In British English, 'athletics' specifically refers to what is referred to as 'track and field' in the United States, where I believe - despite your being a Serb - you currently reside.
And Britain has never won three gold medals in a single athletics session before; ergo, this was Britain's greatest ever day in athletics.
Whether it was Britain's greatest ever sporting day is an entirely separate issue, and one certainly open to debate - but no one can seriously argue that it wasn't this country's greatest day ever in athletics specifically.

Lets see if they can hold on. I hated the way Serena delayed the start of the match today, it seemed so arrogant, it almost made me want to start cheering for Sharapova...until I realized how annoying she is.

I never said that there was an alternate day that was the best, so don't make the assumption that I hold that opinion. I'm done going over this already.

Never in one session perhaps, but in one day?
I mean we got 40 odd gold medals in 1908, so surely there'd be a day in those games with more? That's if you're measuring by medals of course, leaving out other more subjective measurements.

Again, leaving aside the subjective measurements, and focusing solely on athletics - the contention being that yesterday was Britain's greatest day in athletics specifically, not total medal counts across an individual discipline or general sporting achievement - we can see that last night eclipses even 1908 in athletics.
Here's the full run-down of the 1908 athletics medals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletics_ ... r_Olympics
While Britain won 7 golds in athletics across the entire 13 days, the most they won in any single day (on July the 18th and 25th) - never mind a single session - was two.
Ergo, in terms of gold medals won, last night remains the greatest night ever in the history of British athletics.
Facts and research: they remain everyone's friends over amusing 'I'm done with this' posts.

Not everyone has to share your criteria, facts are facts opinions are opinions. Best and greatest, are in this case, opinions. Most medals is not, but that's your criteria. bye.

I'm sure we'd all be excited to read your coherent points of argument to the contrary, should you choose to make them.
Truly, we remain deeply saddened that you're not sharing with us your extraordinary sporting knowledge and wisdom as regards past British success in athletics.
Your modest and humbling unwillingness to do so remains a tragedy for all of us, no doubt.

I've already shared my opinion on this issue. The person whom I was having the conversation with was perfectly satisfied with my answer. Since I've already posted my opinion of this topic of discussion and told you that by looking at my previous posts you would find it, and that I did not want to post it again, why are you still quoting me, asking for my opinion? I've already told you that I don't want to go over this any more. I have no problem with the fact that you hold different criteria for measuring this and an different opinion on the issue than I do, so what is your problem with me? Please refer to my previous posts and if you have a question about them ask me, otherwise please stop quoting me I don't want to go over this again.

Why not share your point of view with all of us? That way you won't have to '"go over this again"'.
Being stubborn for the sake of it won't win you any friends and will very likely just piss people off.
