Usually when I say this it is in the context of whether or not meat should be involved...but perhaps he has a more broad understanding of "It's not food unless something suffers..."

You can not run people out of town for having opposing viewpoints, nor can you make it impoissble to have a job for those who disagree wiht you.
It'll be an interesting one to watch, for sure - they did block a Wal-Mart expansion plan last year, by claiming it would have a negative impact.
