We do not.
Without special permission.
This is federal law.

California laws have definitions on assault weapons.Including Ar 15s as a banned weapon.
And any gun with a mag capacity of more than 10 is illegal.
We still had a case where a korean student went and kill 11 or more people with a 45 acp pistol.
He just went around executing people.
And ran away before the police set up a perimeter and told some store clerk he just killed some people.
He did not need an AR 15 to kill.He did not need a mag capacity of over 10 to kill.
He just needed everyone to be helpless and do nothing while he murdered them.

Pretty simplistic view of the Virginia Tech shooting...given that the shooter had been demonstrating unbalanced behaviour quite a while before the shooting.

I disagree, to many people who own guns, they will probably tell you they have those guns as a hobby and because it's just plain awesome, an example of this would be supercars, no one needs to have a lamborghini or a bugatti veyron, yet these cars exist for the people who can afford an expensive toy that can go 190+mph and drain the gas tank in less than an hour, and they still buy them. AR-15s, Civilian SMGs exist for the same purpose, people want them because they simply want them, who are we to tell them that they shouldn't buy them and go find another hobby.

I got each of the kids a single shot .22 Cricket, great training tool for the young ones as it is designed for young children, so there is a practicality to a single shot weapon.

AR-15s are not assault rifles.
Why is an AR-15 worse than, say, any other semi-auto rifle?

Mk Steele wrote:Actually the reason is because California has such strict gun laws is because it's Democratic to the core, it's an unfortunate trend, I live in Illinois and the gun laws here while not as strict as Cali, it's still bothersome. As far as I know we are the only state that requires one to get a Firearms Ownership ID card (FOID) before being able to buy a gun, and then if you live in Chicago you need to get a Chicago Firearms License along with the FOID as well as registering your weapons with Chicago PD as well as paying $50-100 every so years so you can continue owning firearms within city limits. BUT before that you also need to take classes at a registered firearms dealer to learn how to shoot a gun and take the safety course before you can buy a gun, (If you live in Chicago that is.)
Extremely bothersome if you ask me.
