Ok that means my family ancestors were once black, but not anymore?

Some of your ancestors were black. At any time within the last few thousand years, they were the minority. Simple statistics means that they should have the smallest genetic impact on you.

Ok I'm happy to know that I am mostly European.

As I'd love to know how different races and sub-races came into existence, and I mean races not pseudo-races like "White" or "Black" so don't go talking about melanin.

Some people on the site are obviously racist so if you have obvious non-European ancestors they'll have no problem telling you.

Do you think Puerto Rico should be a state?

I support either full statehood or full independence. None of this "in-between commonwealth" crap.

But, if I had to pick one of the two, I would say Statehood. Puerto Ricans are already American citizens, so making us a State would be easier. Also, it would be more beneficial if we were a state than if we were on our own.

But let's cut this commonwealth stuff out. It serves no purpose, and is a drain on the budget.

1. Virginia's a Commonwealth. What's wrong with that?

2. Even if you are ethnically Puerto Rican, Puerto Rico has been given opportunities to become a State. They don't want to be, for whatever reason - and they don't want independence.
It's fine with me. No need to change the federal flag, and no need to learn that there's another State in the Union. Fifty is nice and even.

I'm ethnically part English (possibly Norman), part Irish/Scottish Celt and my Great-Grandmother was, we think, 1/4 black from Jamaica. My family, on Father's side were Nova Scotian fishermen/traders who swapped lumber to the islands for sugar and rum when the fishing wasn't good. That's where the Jamaican side came from. My Mother's family worked the same way and got into the rum-running thing in the 1930's! Apparently a few schooners showed up in Halifax harbour with bullet holes, courtesy of the Coast Guard, as new decorations.

That was my very white grandfather. And, to an extent my (so far as I can tell so far) very white grandmother and step-grandfather. Which is how my father wound up adopted out.

Mobility has really only been a trend in recent years.

Funnily enough, my family has always managed to marry someone born in NZ if they're foreign or foreign if the reverse since we arrived. It's annoying in some regards.

Often this is just one person out of many. (My mother was hit badly... the only one of seven children born in NZ, full siblings only.)

I am aware of at least two others. I think Moutere is Māori, although I'm not sure. There was also this other guy who name escapes me. One thing I do remember was that he may have been gay. It's been a while since I've seen him round.

I'm probably the only one who is, at least, kinda well-known.

I would assume I am a mix of Aztec and Spanish, leaning more toward Spain because my family is mostly more European white than dark skinned Aztec. In the caste system I would have been a Mestizo most likely.
