Not much - which could be as a result of (a) it being a Bank Holiday and (b) the drinking age in the United Kingdom being 18. Although, having said that, a few friends and I did go out drinking the night beforehand with a giant comedy key around my neck (over here, you used to get the keys to the house when you turned 21).
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

I spent my 21st cruising around town, buying beer, from all of the package stores I had been buying beer from for the four or five years prior, while presenting my ID with much aplomb whether asked or not...Then I got together with my friends, and drank said beer...

I don't really remember. 18 was the legal drinking age where I grew up, so my 21st was sort of a non-event.

Mind you, I don't remember my 18th birthday, either. <shrug>

My birthday was over Christmas break, and my parents had just moved to a new place in the middle of nowhere, where I knew nobody.

Meaning: I played videogames and drank like a fish. I had a great time.

Not a damn thing. I'm the oldest of all my friends, so no one could really come to anything resembling a 21st birthday party. I didn't tell anyone it was my birthday and played video games at home, IIRC. My brother (30 at the time) found out about that and would have none of it, so a few days later he gathered up all his friends, my sister, and some cousins and we all went to the dive-iest place he could find for drinks, so that was nice of him.

Went out to dinner with some friends and family, and ordered myself a margarita and proudly showed my ID that yes, I was legal.

I advise against drinking yourself stupid on your 21st. Better to drink yourself buzzed so that you get to enjoy being buzzed and less likely to wake up with a hangover. ;) For me, really buzzed is about 2 large mixed drinks or 3 hard ciders (I'm a lightweight, and happy that way. I can get myself buzzed for cheap! :lol2: )
