They're unintelligent, but if you understand their mindset you can use that to your advantage to befriend them.

Sure, they whine and they pee and they shit, but since I'm not a parent when I get fed up with them I can go to a parent and say "I don't know how to deal with him/her, you take him/her".

These days the older kids are more likely to notice that you are treating them like they are your bitch, and will try hard to annoy you, so I prefer the younger ones.

I'm not complaining because the parents dared to travel with a baby. I'm complaining because that particular day was the first one in my life that I fell asleep while conducting extremely delicate affairs which required the utmost concentration. I'm complaining because somebody had to wake me up at the speech for the first time in three good years, and I probably destroyed my reputation with the speaker, an acquaintance whose credit I needed and opinion I valued highly.

First time mistakes include not getting earplugs or headphones, I suppose. I'd never been faced with this sort of dilemma before.

There is also a higher incidence of middle ear infections in kids who use pacifiers. So yeah, not a solution for parents who don't wish to have orthodontic bills or risk serial ear infection.

Ah, I see this as a topic I could share my opinion on.
Frankly I see babies as the purest thing on this earth. They live in the moment and know nothing other than survival and attachment. The ultimate dependent that truly looks towards others for everything. I find it rather remarkable, a baby doesn't care if you're fat or skinny, black or white either. They are perfect examples of uncorrupted spirits oozing potential. One can look at a baby and say "She'll be president some day." and who are we to say that she won't reach that goal in goal in her lifetime. With a baby, they have not yet been weighed down by socities judgment and normalization. They are tiny compact people who could be anything. Like flower buds we await their blossom to see just the kind of person they grow to be. As they grow we influence them is the thong. Truely only when they are this little are they their own people. If s baby wants to cry for attention it will do so. This habit will continue until it can understand that doing so is not what is looked as favorable upon by others... Ultimetly we could learn from babies one of the few truths left in this awful, bleak, and ever so harsh world.

Well actually you can teach a 1 year old to do some things (I taught one how to walk), and believe it or not it is when people are just born up to age 5 when their brain develops the most (which means they are more able to learn things and fully memorize them). I'd probably say if you were a 3 yr old forever you could actually learn a lot, the thing that makes younger people less intelligent is that they have not had the time to learn these things.

Well, babies don't have the cognitive ability to know that you're going to be attending something important and thus shouldn't cry when you're trying to sleep. So you can't really blame the baby, they cry for no reason. If they're hungry, they cry. If they have to use the bathroom, they cry. If you hurt them, they cry. If they feel like crying on an airplane when people are trying to sleep for no apparent reason other than the fact that they can get away with it, they will cry.

Um, those are reasons. And when they "cry for no reason", they're crying for a reason you can't discern. Might be gas. Might be tired. Might be frightened. Definitely not for "no reason".

I get quite broody whenever I see a baby. Still, I don't plan on having one for another 6 or 7 years, at least.
