Stupidest things that your school system has done

In my middle school you can basicly FAIL, not go to summer school, and still go on to the next grade. I am living proof (Im doing a lot better in high school now though). There was also this thing called read 180,where you do some trivial reading and some other things, I didn't learn a single thing in there. The only reason I started to understand english was durring summer school, in high school, my teacher was a creative writing teacher and he made us make our own examples with the basics of english.

My middle school principle didn't give half a shit about what went on. He pretty much just let the assistant principle handle everything.

Parents were given advice to limit screen time to two hours daily. Every year other than junior, I spent more than two hours on computers in class.

One thing that always raged me was one year our vice principle told our class that she cannot say how long we should be doing homework each night because every student was different.

She then stood up next year saying that there was a new guideline by the school board that all grade 9 students should be doing 1 and a half hours of homework a night. That increased as you got older.

I was furious. This was just another example of the school board ignoring all other aspects of our life thinking that the only thing that have in our life is school.

I have 3 pairs of clothes for nice weather.
1 Muscle shirt. Light grey. Cost's about 90 cents. 1 White shirt with OP on it in a deep orange color. Costs's 50 cents from good will . And a Silk Dragon shirt that cost's God knows how much but cost me 1 dollar from Good will. For Short's i have 4 pairs of Camo Cargo's that cost 10$ Apice.

That means that my average weekly salary is about the same as an average high school dropout, that's vexing.

I got the worst of it when I proved her wrong on submarines pre-WWI by showing her (and the entire class) documents on the C.S.S. Hunley and the Turtle. well when I showed my 8th grade social studies teacher, as well as the rest of the class a letter to my great grandfather signed by one of the greatest presidents ever, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, I possibly got extra credit. my great grandfather was a big-time military supplier or something. meaning, my family must have been pretty well off during the great depression.

How to do mathematics so when they work at factories

An education such as the one above would be all in good faith, if it wasn't for the fact that most of the factory work in the United States has been gutted ( mostly shipped off to foreign soil ). What good is a country without a solid manufacturing base? A manufacturing base to provide jobs and vital materials that are always needed and now must come from halfway around the globe.

The worst thing the modern school system today has done is that it has taught children not to think outside of the box and to accept what is quickly becoming a convoluted reality. Thankfully I graduated before that system was put into place and actually enforced ( you have to love the problems that No Child Left Behind has bought upon the nation ) .

Tell me about it. My History teacher was pretty cool though since she believed that regular standardized tests aren't important. She made us present our own ideas in front of the class. Sometimes, those kinds of good teachers do somewhat make it seem like these idiotic policies aren't as bad as they really are.

Giving out "out of school suspensions". I don't understand how you could deprive kids of their education, even if the student was behaving poorly. I say just give them a spanking and be done with it.

Though my school still has suspension/exclusion, they tend to use seclusion (previously called isolation) a bad behaved student had to learn in isolation from their classmates, when they first started, the room was in the basement, now they use an old music room that had more space.
