but i won (barely) in the end

You called someone that and think that you being punished is stupid?
The person acting truly stupid there was you. Not just stupid, but racist as well.
Top work.

Grade 7: Someone brought up Obama and he just got elected. I remarked that I didn't want him to win but, exact words, "What the heck, he might actually be pretty good". Two other kids heard that, and started to call me racist, eventually telling everybody I called him a "black cherry" (?), "n-----", and a host of other names that I definitely didn't say or even know. I later narrowly missed getting beat up (I was on the ground and the guy had straddled me). Apparently everyone went around saying I called others names such as "fishhead" (asians) and "border-jumper" (mexicans, which I did say but it was taken out of context; the guy that I said it to later told everyone that I was quoting someone else). Teachers overheard, and I was told I needed to stop telling people that I was conservative and stop making remarks like that (this is after I told them what was going on; they listened to the assholes). In the end, teachers didn't like me, the kids hated me, and I got my first taste of the standard California voter. I even have a few remarks in my yearbook(s) pertaining to the fact that I made racist comments (which I didn't). This went on for the better part of two years. Has to be one of the worst experiences of my life so far, all because the staff didn't stop it when it started.
Grade 8: One of the teachers that listened to everyone that said I was "racist" instantly hated me. She disrespected and humiliated me in front of my class and kept me from leaving these guys for a better high school (worst recommendation letter ever). After disrespecting my mother in front of me, my family went t the principal (who was a nice guy, by the way), and he said he's had a dozen complaints from kids, families, and teachers, but it would take two to three years to fire her, and cost my family a lot of time and the district a lot of money (tenure and unions).
Grade 10: The year before I had my classes changed to teachers and classes I didn't like. I asked them not to do it again, and lo and behold, they do it, and wonder why I don't like the teacher, the class (all a year or two older and not very smart), and why I failed a semester (which a lot of it was my fault, being a teenager and all).

I feel for you.
I got beaten up at school because I was white (Africa, go figure), and because my dad was a nazi.

I'm pretty sure I never learned about the Turtle or Hunley in history class. Not that it mattered, I could pretty much teach every history class I ever had, plus point out the mistakes in the history textbooks.

What was her reason?
