He's essentiallly Godwinning gay rights.

It being a Godwin, I will respond by saying that the rights of gays to marry and the rights of Jews to live their lives are very different.

I don't see why there can't be equal rights and a healthy economy. The only people I see making that argument are Chinese Communist Party officials.

I'm onto you, Jintao.

That's why it's bad. Love is bad.
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

Yes, but which is more important is the question.

And I answered: Both are important. Both deserve the same degree of commitment.

That is politicians-wise. Now, voters-wise, I would look a lot more kindly upon an electorate that votes on macroeconomic and macropolitical issues than on social policy.

Same argument the CCP is making. They can't have basic civil rights since they're still developing a stable economy.

The protection of the civil rights of everyone should trump the economy.

The Republicans, mostly, are the ones saying that we shouldn't be focusing on "gay marriage" because the economy is more important. What do I say to that? Stop focusing on marriage equality, then. If you think that the economy is more important, you are perfectly capable of ceding the issue--let people marry who they choose.

In truth the OP question was not well phrased. He never stipulated further constraints like saying which is more important to who, what, when, why, where.
