The economy of course. We could only introduce and maintain equal rights, universal suffrage, welfare state etc because of the huge economy we developed. It is why places that continue to remain economically underdeveloped have so often failed to establish equal rights, like Syria and Egypt.

I believe that giving cigarette's equal rights will finally prevent them from being unwillingly immolated and stuck into people's mouths. Although tobacco companies will be hurt, in the end, this will end unnecessary spending to treat humans suffering from the effects of smoking and injuries sustained by the billions of cigarette's requiring treatment from such traumatic experiences.
