And that's suppose to keep Bama from winning the national title? :eyebrow:

No, if we had the 2014 BCS format, that would be the matchups right now. #1 Bama v. #4 ND/ #2 K-State v. #3 Oregon.

If Notre Dame plays v. Alabama lke they did v. Oklahoma (junk TD at the end non withstanding) They have the best chance of any one.

and Torisakia, at least allow us to have fun imagining Bama mot winning a 3rd title in 4 years, ok ;)

Is there a strength-of-schedule rating for the top teams? Because ND looks solid right now in that category, and Alabama does not.

One objection I am tired of hearing is "Oh they beat losing teams". At the time they beat them, those teams were well respected. One reason those teams did not do well afterward may be because they were beaten up and demoralized.

Most overrated:

Alabama
Oregon
Ohio State
USC
Florida

I can't find one any where.

LIST of Top 25 teams beaten (with rank at time of game)/ left on schedule (as of this week):
Alabama: #8 Michigan (neutral site); #11 Mississippi State. 2 top 25 teams left: LSU and Texas A&M
Notre Dame: @ #10 Michgan State; #18 Michigan; #17 Stanford; @ #8 Oklahoma. 1 top 25 team left: USC.
K-State: @ #6 Oklahoma, @ #13 West Virginia; #14 Texas Tech. 1 top 25 team left: Texas.
Oregon: #22 Arizona; #23 Washington. 3 top 25 teams left: USC, Stanford, Oregon State
Oregon State: #13 Wisconsin; @ #19 UCLA. 2 top 25 games left: Stanford, Oregon.

So let's see: Until this weekend 'Bama had played only ONE top 25 team, while the other 4 unbeatens (not including Louisville) had all beaten at least 2. Oregon and Notre Dame will play 5 top 25 teams, while Bama will only play four, as will K-State and Oregon State. Of the 5, I'd say K-state had the best SoS going into the weekend.

It's based on vote, not on strength-of-schedule. The only reason ND plays 12 ranked teams a year is because they an schedule whoever the fuck they want. Normal(and better) teams have to play conference games. And plus, ND pays the refs.

Damn... I'm a ND hater from way back.. and even I don't think they pay off the referees (at least not more than any other big name program does ;) )

The computer polls DO factor in SoS, but now that Oregon State lost, Alabama should be #2 in the computers, behind K-state and ahead of Oregon.

In fact tonight's results have made it hard for Oregon to get to the title game unless they are the only other unbeaten besides Alabama. (yes i do think 'Bama will go undefeated; but they will be tested)

Qazox' TOP 11 (wk 9)

Postby Qazox » Sun Oct 28, 2012 8:19 am

Most impressive win of the day: Notre Dame beating Oklahoma.

(Remember the #8 spot is for the best non-BCS AQ team of the past week)

#1- Alabama (def. Mississippi State 38-7) LW: #1
#2- Oregon (def. Colorado 70-14) LW: #2
#3- Kansas State (def. Texas Tech 55-24) LW: #4
#4- Notre Dame (def. Oklahoma 30-13) LW: #5
#5- Ohio State (def. Purdue 29-22 OT) LW: #6
#6- LSU (BYE WEEK) LW: #7
#7- Georgia (def. Florida 17-9) LW: NR
#8- Tulsa (7-1) (def. Rice 28-24)
#9- Florida (Lost to Georgia 9-17) LW: #3
#10- Florida State (Def. Duke 48-7) LW: NR
#11- Louisville (def. Cincinnati 34-31 OT) LW: NR

Fell Out: USC, Mississippi State and Oregon State

Congrats to the following teams for clinching bowl eligibility this weekend: 41 teams are now bowl eligible
Florida State Seminoles (missed them 2 weeks ago... oops)
Texas Longhorns
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Central Florida Golden Knights
Bowling Green Falcons
Ball State Cardinals
Fresno State Bulldogs
San Diego State Aztecs
Stanford Cardinal
UCLA Bruins
Texas A&M Aggies
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
San Jose State Spartans

My current BCS Bowl predictions:
Orange Bowl: Florida State (ACC) v. Boise State (MWC)
Sugar Bowl: Georgia (SEC) v. Notre Dame
Rose Bowl: Nebraska (Big 10) v. Oregon (Pac 12)
Fiesta Bowl: Louisville (Big East) v. Oklahoma (Big XII)
BCS CHAMPIONSHIP: Alabama (SEC) v. Kansas State (Big XII)

latest BCS rankings
Congrats to Lousiana Tech for making the Sun Belt's Debut in the BCS rankings. <IGNORE>

I have no problem with the top 4, though Oregon will rise every week in November, beacuse their schedule > K-State's > Notre Dame's. IF all 5 unbeatens (not counting Ohio state who can't play for it) it'll be Alabama v Oregon in the National title game, with K-State v. Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl; and Louisville in the Orange Bowl.

Louisiana Tech is in the WAC

However, the Sun Belt's qualify of play has began to improve. WKU, Arkansas State, and Louisiana-Monroe have showed to be solid teams this year. Louisiana Tech though has been great, there close to being 8-0 and beating Texas A&M, now that's quality football for a WAC member!

:palm: They just seem they should be in the Sun Belt (and I think they are next year.. or are they going into C-USA?)

Just looked it up, LT is going to join Conference USA.

And agreed, they seem like a Sun Belt member. But in reality, location doesn't seem to matter anymore conference wise, its where the money is. Why do you think West Virginia is in the Big 12 and Boise State and San Diego State are heading to the Big East.

I'm thinking that with Alabama's schedule, there isn't much chance of them losing before the title bout.

The same LSU that got beat by the Florida who just got pummeled by Georgia?

Best Game this weekend?

#1 Alabama @ #5 LSU
#24 Oklahoma State @ #2 Kansas State
#4 Oregon @ #17 USC
#16 Texas A&M @ #15 Mississippi State
#23 Texas @ #18 Texas Tech

By far: 'Bama-LSU (and I hope LSU wins)

Oregon-USC. I'm seeing LSU getting its ass handed to them, and so I think from a pure game perspective, Oregon playing USC at USC is going to be a close fought affair.

Alabama still has to beat Texas A&M to win the West. So Bama has the West on lock.

Bama will make Les Miles look like an even bigger dumb-ass than he already is. Don't forget, he's the coach who spiked the ball with 1 second left against Ole Miss in 2009. ;)

'Bama, ND, and Oregon (or should that be Ore-con) all played below the hype last night. In fact, I think they showed their true colors. Bama should have lost that game and will probably lose against aTm (because Johnny Football is legit), ND proved that the OU game was a fluke, and Oregon still hasn't faced a real defense but came perilously close to losing anyway. This is going to sound crazy to most, but I don't know that any of those teams can beat K-State.

Disgusting. Boise State never lost at home for nine years, and now we drop games to San Diego State? Come back, Kellen Moore!
