I think Scott Fujita(shame the Saints let him go, especially these days) hits the nail on the head, not just with regards to himself, but to the Saints as a whole.
Roger Goodell needs to be fired and I think should be considered for a new title: Worst Commissioner Ever.
Personally, I think he was just afraid that the first hometeam-Superbowl could've been in such a small market as New Orleans and set out to destroy any chance of that happening. If it was in Dallas or New York you wouldn't see any of this bullshit.
Saints fans and Raiders fans.
They think everything's a goddamn conspiracy.
Don't believe me? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made the Wild Card in 2000 when the Super Bowl was going to be held at Raymond James Stadium without any rash of suspensions or other league interference. Small market team with a shot at a home-field Super Bowl, still didn't make it in spite of being a pretty damn good team.

Yeah, the Bucs clinched a playoff berth that year the week before the end of the season, and lost to the Packers the final week when a win would've given the Bucs the #2 and a bye, which would've made it easier for them to get there. It had nothing to do with "Hosting a Super Bowl=Must put team in Playoffs." Stupidest NFL conspiracy theory ever.

Actually I was arguing the opposite, that there's an interest in keeping a small market team out of the playoffs because they're hosting it.
