Hell, the Saints have one of, if not the, lowest penalty rates in the ENTIRE LEAGUE, and this is the team that's supposedly the devil incarnate? That just doesn't add up.
The players were paid for performance, like every other team, but that's not the same as putting a hit on someone. Which the team never did, and even Goodell is backing away from. There was an ulterior motive to Goodell's actions, and it was keeping the Saints out of the Superbowl so he didn't miss his big payday in Dallas.

Well I did state it's my personal conspiracy theory. But is it really all that farfetched? The league would stand to make a lot of money on a host city's team playing in the Super Bowl, it stands to reason they'd prefer a larger market team to do it.
