Being assholes to the opposing team and their fans still counts as being assholes. I've been at games where Pittsburgh fans cheer loudly and mock opposing players if they go out with an injury, just like their Philadelphia brethren, and are usually just as drunk as well. Sure other fan bases get rowdy and slightly asshole-ish, but even during our biggest rivalry games I and the vast majority of my fellow Bears fans won't cheer wildly for an opposing player injury, let alone one of our own players getting hurt even with a dismal start. Not even Rex Grossman got that kind of abuse.Williamson wrote:Northern Dominus wrote:It's shocking because this isn't happening in one of the traditional asshole fan havens like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Oakland or (newly realized) Detroit.
That being said I don't entirely understand the blind hatred for Cassel. I mean he's not Brady, entirely, but the front office didn't exactly do him any favors in the off season by hiring more defensive players over wide receivers and letting go of Pope. Could he be throwing a little better? Yes, but again his receivers have been off the mark a few times in the "highlights" that I've caught on ESPN.
.
Hey i resent that Pittsburgh comment . I'm not saying where not asswholes but where usally asswholes to the other team.

Don't hate.
This year we're making history, not repeating it.
(or at least I hope)

Oh God. The Falcons don't suck this year. Automatically Superbowl.
When my Pack when 10-0 the year they went and won the Superbowl, I didn't think that OMG SUPERBOWL IS GREEN BAY CUZ SEASON IS GOOD.
Its like Bengals syndrome here.
Win a few games, automatically best team in NFL.
Also, Philly fans are horrible. Last i checked they had a jail in their stadium for fans of different teams.
Steelers fans are aggressive like their playing style, boo fucking hoo you can't ignore them.

So after all that whining and crying and having it be in front of an arbitrator... not much changed.

I mean, he's not good-but not horrible.
I would punish the Saints too. Not only was what they did very unethical, it violated salary cap rules (Not that big of a deal in my opinion, though).
Oh, and in R/L, it's ILLEGAL to pay someone to intentially injure someone. In a sport it's ok to get paid to hurt someone on purpose?

Which is all fine and good, except there is no evidence of the Saints ever doing that at all. Goodell himself has admitted it and come up with lame excuses to hand out his draconian "punishments" anyway.
Even one of the main guys they talk about, Brett Favre says nothing like that was done to him and the Saints didn't go after him anymore than any other team.
Hell, the Saints have one of, if not the, lowest penalty rates in the ENTIRE LEAGUE, and this is the team that's supposedly the devil incarnate? That just doesn't add up.
The players were paid for performance, like every other team, but that's not the same as putting a hit on someone. Which the team never did, and even Goodell is backing away from. There was an ulterior motive to Goodell's actions, and it was keeping the Saints out of the Superbowl so he didn't miss his big payday in Dallas.
