Except that you were. When you were young, your parents brainwashed you into believing Catholicism. If you had been brought up with a neutral point of view, then your decision on what religion you might adopt could very well be different.

Iirc, when Copernicus was writing his works, he didn't release them because he didn't want to be burned. When he died and his works were published, guess what the church did? They dug his corpse up and burned it. That's dedication to ignorance there.
