Imagine how she must have prayed, imagine for how long. Do you think her conditions started to get better?

Well, yes. Unless the photographer is a heartless bastard and not give her some food and water.

Actually he was told not to interfere by the nurses at the refugee camp she was just outside of. They said that even if they tried to help her (with intravenous fluids and such), she would live another week at most. Best just to leave her to die a relatively quick agonizing death via talon and beak.

The photographer later killed himself.

No. Good money managment, and luck in the financial sector helped you with your financial situation. I am lucky enough to have a father who relies on hard work and common sense to keep our financial situation relativly stable despite him being unemployed during the stock market crash, though we had to move when he found himself a well-paying (though stressful) job out of state, thanks to his connections and previous work expierience. No God.

And what about everybody else who is also poor, but they pray and have faith, and yet they never rise out of their conditions? Why do you think that He chose you? Why do you think he singled you out when there are probably millions in more need and that are more deserving of help than you?

Thats not what I am saying. And I know how it feels, my mom is sick with a disease right now. But sometimes you just may not be better. It may be your fate/ I don't know how it works, all I know is what the Bible tells me

You never answered my question. Why does God have to cause some to suffer to please others? Is he not all powerful? Wouldn't an all powerful being be able to please everyone?
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

Social Libertarian (could care less about Economics, there are people who are more educated at it, so it is a waste of time to try and debate me on it.). As stated above I am a Wiccan, and I find solidarity with the Egyptian Deities. I support government secularization as well as complete freedom of religion, as I believe that to truly be secular, the state must respect all beliefs, and favor none. By reward I meant when I die I would go to Heaven. Thats the only reward I seek, is his mercy. That is one of the main reasons why i love him so he will have mercy on me and not send me to eternal damnation.

Then if it's a plan, why do you even bother praying? To paraphrase the late George Carlin, surely God wouldn't change his plan for every shmuck with a two dollar prayer-book. Either prayer works, or it doesn't. End of story. Because if it has inconsistent, dare I say random, results how is it a proper method of addressing the problems that we face in the world today.

Hmm... what are the most religious countries in the world?
Iran...
Yemen...
Afghanistan...

Oh that's not fair you say. Those are all Muslim countries, they're praying to the wrong god. So okay, let's just stick to Europe. What are the most religious countries in Christian EU?

Let's take a looksy:

Ouch, Romania, Greece, Italy, Poland, Ireland, and Portugal. Which is to say, all the economically weak, dependent and impoverished countries.

Why is there sin? Why can't God simply get rid of sin? And before you say he gave us free will, please explain why God cannot give us both free will and erase sin. Again, if God is all powerful, none of these things would be a problem. The fact the world is a bad place is testament that either 1)God doesn't exist. 2)God is a selfish asshole.

I was raised a Christian and was subjected to religious "education" from grade school to my high school years. In my first year in college, I decided that I should actually sit down and read the book that my faith was based upon. This effectively forced me to re-evaluate what I had been "taught" during the majority of my life. I was shocked at what the educators and priests had skipped or glossed over. This prompted me to research my religion further and was what ultimately led me to my choice to become an Aethist. I can hardly begrudge a person for finding comfort where they might, but I can not bring myself to believe in something that either purposefully misled me or was "conveniently" ignorant of some of its more disturbing principles.

As an example I have included a sample of passages I found particularly disturbing:

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. She must be quiet." (1 Timothy 2:12)

"Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:22)

"Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses." (1 Samuel 15:3)

"You shall not let a sorceress live." (Exodus 22:18)

"Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock." (Psalm 137:9)

"And the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity." (Romans 1:27)

"Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse." (1 Peter 2:18)

If God is omnipotent, why does he not simply eliminate Satan, and Sin?
