Do what makes you happy. As the old (from your reference) song goes: You can't please everyone, you gotta please yourself.

Be excellent to each other.

Don't be a dick--don't crush people on your way to the top. If you fall, it's good to have friends to catch you.

Try to make the world a better place.

That's awful advice. Don't crush people on your way to the top? Of course you crush them, you try to destroy them (not physically, to clarify)! No prisoners! That way they can't come back around and bite you in the ass if they surpass you or you fall.

In my 65 years, I've learned that I don't know everything and even if I did no one would be interested. But, here goes ...

1. education. is. important. Learn something, it doesn't matter what, you'll be less boring and bored
2. save money. Believe me with the way medical science is advancing you'll be absolutely devastated to find yourself at the age of 65 without the means to buy that motorcycle you've been wanting or pay for that trip to Amsterdam or buy that bag of (medical) marijuana.
3. you'll still want sex so stay in good enough shape that you'll be allowed to participate.
4. Do stuff. Other than play games, post on NSG or sit on your butt watching TV. Life is only as interesting as you make it, so make it interesting.
5. Don't lump us real old people in with whippersnappers of 21.

Tip the First:

- If you got bored during uni, don't do an MA/PhD. It's just the same, with even more sporadic work.

Other Oldsters, let fly with your err wisdom arrows. Like owls. Owls with bows.

ok

stop with the "my lifes dream is impossible for me to achieve" bullshit. i see so many young people with modest dreams "i want to go to college" "id like to start my own business" who are too discouraged at 20 years old to even try to do it. if you dont even try you will never get anywhere. put in the work, go for it, and even if you dont quite make it to the heights you will still make it farther than you think you will.

That's why you crush their spirits, kick them when they're down. Unless, what we are talking about everyday people? Yeah fine. But your enemies, those who present a threat? Just beat them.

Why not spend your money when you're young and enjoy doing things rather than saving it and then not being able to do some things because it turns out you've ended up with too many commitments, or that your health doesn't permit you to do those things, or that there's a worldwide financial crash that means that you can't afford to do it anyway?

I'd much rather enjoy myself while I'm young and have the energy/ability/freedom from commitments to do so than get to 65 and realise that I can't.

You need to find a balance between saving for later and enjoying yourself while you're young.

I recently quit my job and ran off to Bavaria for a month. It wasn't necessarily the most "responsible" thing to do. I might have been able to buy my own home if I had just sucked it up and stayed at the job, but honestly, I'd rather have my memories of Bavaria -- while I am still young enough to get up the friggin' mountains. I don't think climbing around Obersalzburg is going to be very practical when I am 65.

But I still put some money aside for retirement while I was working, and I still think it's important to live within your means.

What I've learned:
- The world dislikes those who live by their principles and will try to bend them, break them, or destroy them. Learn to bend and know when to snap back.
- There will always be a tomorrow.
- Knowing how to end a conversation is just as important as starting one.
- Having a hobby that doesn't involve sitting in front of a screen is just Awesome!
- Using a cell phone for more than just checking messages while your out with friends or at dinner makes you look like a thumb-sucking loser.
- You may at some point be asked to manually write things down; at which point try to make it look like nice and Not like a 4th grader's handwriting.
- For the love of Pete, know what to post online and what Not to post online! Failing that; try having separate online-handles; one for day-to-day upright citizen business stuff, and another for the rest of what you do.

When you have found the right person and both of you want to get married.

Yes, but a couple can go marry earlierier or later. recently I was on a wedding in which the bride was 18 and the guy 21. So, your answer could fit in their case (although they were forced in one hand) but in other hand some people would consider them to be to young.

If they were forced, that's not cool.

Some people can get married at that age and it's fine. Other people really shouldn't.
