if you were somehow born in a foreign country or were forced to move and didn't speak the language fully i don't think it'd be fully outrageous to have an institution that is supposed to treat everyone equally do their best to make resources available in your language to make it possible for you to actually do things/be less likely to fuck up. especially if there are roughly the same amount of X language speakers in your new country as there are in the country language X came from and over a tenth of the population spoke it. i dunno man. maybe i just press 1 for hate amercia?

because this is America (fuck yeah!) and America should cater to every individual's rights heck... if the state has to provide interpreters to allow people who don't speak, read or write in english to take their driver's test... then schools need to provide forms in every conceivable language for any individual who has relatives attending their school.

and they also have to provide audio recordings in every conceivable language for those who are Illiterate.

Look at the language you are writing in. If someone wants to live in a country they should learn the majority language of that country. If I wanted to live in Mexico, I'd learn Spanish first. If someone wants to live in the USA, they should learn English.

And I know English because I was born and raised here. I doubt that you have seen someone struggle to learn English. It's very difficult; there are idioms, synonyms, numerous archaic grammar rules that threaten to strangle you, and so many irregulars that it can and does give people headaches. Even my father, who is a naturalized US citizen, struggles on occasion with the appropriate pronunciation because it's difficult.

Because by law, they must be informed as to their child's progress, and as to what disciplinary actions are being taken.

What went wrong here was that nobody took the time and effort to speak with those parents at length, making sure they knew what was going on. The 'race' part of this incident has been blown up beyond proportion - the problem is that something like a suspension ought to be regarded more seriously and reasonable effort taken to ensure the involved parties understand what is going on.

A mere FORM is just not adequate for a suspension.

Also, little opinion of mine, I doubt Chinese will become the dominant language anytime soon, in China the number of people learning English is greater than the population of the UK.
