So Romney's doubling down on his conservative credentials instead of trying for a VP choice that broadens his appeal. My work here for today is done, I'll check back tomorrow. I think many of you should look further than the aforementioned list of fallacies because with libertarianism, people often mistake the hate for misuse for power with hate for the argument itself.

For example, Ron Paul opposed the government's power to force private businesses to stop discriminating. This doesn't mean Paul votes for racist policies, it means he doesn't support the government power to do everything that society deems "moral"- no matter how common sense they may be.

I couldn't agree more. If there is one thing that Ron Paul does not support, it's common sense.

why did mitt romney make the announcement on saturday morning when everyone is sleeping in, watching cartoons or paying attention to the olympics?

He announced it after the daily chatter shows were out but before the Sunday news programs which set the conversation for the following week. So Ryan's selection will dominate the conversation on the Sunday talk shows, padded with Romney surrogates and profiles of Ryan and a favorable biography.

This will likely maintain through next weekend as well, leading to the Republican Convention...if they actually play it right they get to control the conversation for the next month and dominating the news cycle like that should have an effect on the polls.

Since Romney has been behind the news instead of ahead of it, theoretically this should change his fortunes.

Unless of course he fucks up and has to go back on the defensive.
