To be fair it does have a flavor all its own; its not something I consider seasonal though.

Summertime is the time for grilling and open flame cooking in my family, also lots of salads and melons.

Peaches, fresh basil, greek salad, and fried sausages.

Tastiest thing in the world: fresh sliced tomatoes, soft, fresh mozzarella (or smoked), fresh basil, drizzled with good olive oil.

It just doesn't get any better.

BBQ, KC style!

And fresh fruit, veggies, etc

But mainly BBQ, steak, and other grilled foods. And sweat.

In my opinion I would say a barbecue, which is kind of a nod to the Aussies.

I was in charge of the corn in our family garden. I planted it, fertilized it, watered and weeded it, chased off the crows. In August I harvested it and shucked it, disposing of corn borer horrors and silk.

It was worth it. Sitting on the front porch with the family, eating fresh corn with melted butter running down my elbows, and slices of fresh tomato from the garden as well.

The other wanted hamburger with this, but I preferred hot dogs with mustard.

Best stuff ever. It supports my contention that the simplest recipes are the best. I like a grilled open-faced Caprese sandwich.

It's also a great appetizer - get a toothpick, stick the toothpick in a cherry tomato that's been halved and seeded, stick a small ball of fresh mozzarella in that, drizzle with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with a chiffonade of fresh basil. You can't do better.

Several years ago, when I was still living in Japan, my brother had a couple of black and white hogs on his little farm. I snapped a couple of photos of various farm animals to show friends and students back in Japan. If I didn't tell them, many people assumed the hogs were cattle. Pigs are all pink, dontcha know...

Kune kune.

I have, honestly, never seen a pink pig. Are they actually real? Obviously, unless there is some incredibly expensive conspiracy out there in the media.

Was I the only one that thought this was a naughty thread?

Summer has me up the meat quotient of my diet and drink more wine. Those two and summer just mix well for me.

Crawfish Boils, Fried Shrimp, Boiled Shrimp, and other seafood mainly.

But the potatoes and corn in a Crawfish Boil are usual cravings when the season comes around.

I'd just go for the Bombay Sapphire on rocks, or straight Jack Daniels or Svedka.

I'm too bearded and masculine for wine. >:
