The tastes of summer

This is just what we need; another food thread.

I find that each season has it's flavors; and each person has a unique spin on what he or she considers a particular seasonal taste. For example, to me Fall is pumpkin pie and apple cider.

Right now, though, I want to know what Summer tastes like to everyone. For me it tastes like peaches, watermelon, potato salad and barbecued hamburgers. Occasionally, I'll get a bit of sunscreen in my mouth, so it kind of tastes like that, too.

What does it taste like to you?

Still, in the south, you get fresh vegetables longer than I do up here in the frozen north.

True. Our diet gets really deer-heavy once hunting season starts though.

The vermin are overrunning everything.

I wonder about the deer situation in central/eastern Texas.

I dunno. In my region of AR the number of hunters seems to be dwindling. I find that I only meet old people in the woods anymore.

The younger generation just doesn't seem to be doing it. It's sort of sad.

I am a Texan. I don't trust them much either. Unfortunately, I have to live among them for now.

I know a man that has several horses. During hunting season he paints them in neon "NOT A DEER".

Three years ago he lost one... that was so painted.
