One man with a gun can kill dozens. And are you really willing to take that chance?

Of course. So are you, even if you don't realise it. I mean, you do go outside your home, don't you? If one of these murderous anti-gay bigots copped that you're into the manlove he could kill you and any bystanders, and maybe a cop or two.

Rather, its why criminals get thrown in prison.

Taking someone's example from before, Neville Chamberlain and Edouard Daladier did everything in their power to appease Hitler. I think we know how that ended.

Appeasing bigots does more than just give them a word. It lets them win, which does not help homosexuals in the slightest.

Yes, because my town is in a country that has legalised gay marriage, and is crawling with radical homophobes...

Okay, are you really willing to INCREASE that chance, so you can have a nice word?

They gave countries, I am giving a word.

And by the power of Godwin, this debate is no longer worth having. Good day to you all.

And all the US states where it was legalised were pretty liberal...

They aren't without conservative Chrisitians among the population. certainly enough to burn down a couple of LGBT centers or target the homes of legislators who voted for the measures. Still, no riots, no assassinations. Weird. Maybe they're biding their time? In fact, the only time I can recall conservatives reacting to gay marriage being legalized was in California, when Proposition 8 was passed and actually reduced the rights of American citizens in that state.

We can appease these violent bigots now and then have to deal with them in the future, or we can uphold the principles of equality and secular government and deal with them now. The chances of violence won't change.

Iowa? Pretty liberal? Tell that to John Kerry!

Of course, it was by a unanimous state supreme court decision. But no riots or anything, and its still fine there and marriage equality is still there is Iowa - and gaining increasingly stronger support...

As a Dane I would have prefered if the SRSF government had simply abolished the preeminence of the danish "Folkekirke" as a state church and then left it up for the individual religious communities to decide who and what they would marry. But that said its nice to see that Denmark is, finally, catching up.
