That's because you can't stand people being different than you. They're inferior to you, and they don't deserve the same rights, right?

I'm starting to think Arcada is a Serbian nationalist.

That'd still allow people to violate LGBT people's civil rights, even more in the absence of a government.

How? The ritual would probably end up being strictly ceremonial. We need to start treating each other as humans. Government free marriage is the pathway to equality. Government should have no control over religion or marriage. Leave marriage to the religions or to the people to freely contract with one another. Why are we asking for more control? I don't get why gay marriage is even an issue.

Because without the government stepping in and saying "hey that's not right, leave them alone", equality is NOT what is going to happen, and it's just naive to think so.

Yeah. You need the government to slap people into line and make them realise that their opinions are stupid and they need to become enlightened.

Without government, Californian voters would have nothing to cancel the damage of their monumentally fucking stupid brainfart when they voted for Proposition 8.

Rights aren't something you put up to vote. They're inviolable. Similarly, rights need to be protected and enforced, otherwise they're a laughingstock. Y'need government for that.

The homophobes should've been violently broken up. As violently as fucking possible.

And if your entire country and city thinks like that, your country and city is fucking shit and unworthy of being called "civilised".

The sooner Serbia and the entire planet can be dragged kicking and screaming into 21st century civilization, the better.

Lemme guess, Arcada was bitter about Kosovo not being fans of how Serbia treated them back in the 1990s?

It is an actual violation of a human right.

Go spend time in Saudi Arabia. I refuse to talk to someone that equates the death penalty just for being homosexual with government not regulating a contract. You know nothing of human rights and seriously need some first hand experience.

Just full of first world ignorance.

I'd refuse to talk to anyone who would strawman me to such an extent that my original argument was made into "oh my god, if we don't legalise same-sex marriage right now this whole country will be a hellhole for eternity", but I can give you another chance if only you'd actually address my argument.
Certainly, Germany or France aren't nearly as bad as Saudi-Arabia when it comes to their human rights record, but that doesn't change the fact that they are presently still violating actual human rights, however you might decide to phrase that. I phrase it as a violation of the right to equal treatment under the law regardless of sex, because most people would agree with me that it should be a right. My argument therefore only has to show that recognising only heterosexual marriages requires laws to apply differently to men as they do to women. And that they must, because to do so requires legislation to apply to men such that they can only marry the half of the population that women can't marry and vice versa.
Having accomplished my goal, I ask you to address my argument as it is, not as you want it. As an argument showing that recognition of heterosexual marriages only is a violation of human rights, not as an argument showing that it's the worst thing ever anywhere.
