Bicycle racing. She also wears loads of lycra, and lots of flashing lights and reflective strips, so that the cars can see her. She's a very safe cyclist, you know.

Does she wear those neon green or orange shirts the construction workers use?

Yes.

Top Gear is a British motoring show. Their test driver is a mysterious figure known only as The Stig. In reality The Stig is some professional racing driver. In the context of the show, The Stig is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wearing a racing suit, surrounded by rumours and a roll cage.

I think you kids need to learn to read posts.

I'll requote myself so you can understand...

"First of all, I have no basis towards judging moderators on this site as a specific case, because I don't know enough about the ones on here to make a valid judgement."

Use that pink squishy thing between your ears, and put two and two together.

The thread is not asking 'what do I think about the mods AT NATIONSTATE?'

It is asking 'what do I think about MODERATORS (in general)?'

It's hardly rocket science, stop being so overly sensitive.

As I clearly spelt out. No, I don't know enough about specific moderators on this specific site to make a watertight judgement case. But i've been part of many boards, and the pattern is normally consistent. If I PERSONALLY observe otherwise, then I will change my opinion.

Someone once asked me "Tell me, how do you define hypocrisy?".

And I said to him "Hypocrisy, for me, is a socialist preaching about the prestige and merit of an anti-capitalist comedian's message, praising his critical thought regarding commodity and exchange value, but then going out and buying his DVD."

While you're praising the message, that comedian is only using left wing agendas as a gimmick. While you're listing him as an inspiration, he's getting richer.

Moderators on NS? Wonderful people.
Moderators on another political forum I used to frequent? Not so much.
Moderators on alternatehistory.com? Bastards.
Moderators on the forum I moderate? I like me, and the other mod. We're not really allowed to do our job though, and the rules are too loosely enforced.
Moderators as a general principle? Good.

Funny, I've seen several back off their modliness just because they've gotten too involved.

Some even go get another uninvolved mod if there's modding to be done in a discussion they are in.

But I've been a member of alot of boards and, well, if I could summarize it...

I think that on the whole, they're hypocritical e-penis wavers mainly for the fact that they will jump at the chance at infracting/flaming others for doing something wrong, or making mistakes, but when they do something wrong themselves they fall on claiming 'they're just human', but are void from receiving the same treatment... as well as it being suspiciously dodgy that alot of moderators seem to be good friends with site admins. Given the fact that moderators are chosen because they 'excel in certain board areas or in general behaviour', most moderators I've seen are either utterly clueless and retarded, or just brown tongued, or both.

I'd say that was a bit too 'political', but then this is a politics forum so... eh.

But like I said, I have no basis to judge mods on this site yet. So, I don't mean any real offense.

In terms of pay, why? They do it because they enjoy it, not because they earn it. If they didn't enjoy it, they wouldn't keep doing it. It's volunteer because it's a hobby. They're sitting at home on the internet anyway, they feel they might as well gain some kind of status or power because of it... rather than focusing the same energy into real life.

Sure, you don't mean offense by being offensive!

Careful with the rhetoric there. Rocket science, "grow a thicker skin" ... they really don't belong in the same paragraph.

I like you, I really do. Nothing brightens my day more than a bright new poster. But ... nothing darkens my day more than seeing a bright new poster get stomped. Did I say nothing? There is one thing more darkening and depressing to me, and that's when it me that stomps the bright new poster. I wish I would never do that again, but I probably will. Forum culture.

I'm just saying, take your time before deciding who to cut loose on with rhetoric like that. Make friends and enemies in equal measure. Dress your words as well as your purse can afford ... and all that other stuff which Polonius said. Y'know.

I guess I should post something funny here now.

"Nice? We're supposed to be nice now?"
"None of you have been reading the bastard mod threads, have you?"
"I'm the nicest mod around. If you don't agree, here's my banhammer"

Nah, I am completely without proper inspiration. My apologies. You'll all just have to do with a hug now.
