So basically if another thread about mods shows up it would turn into a spam fest? Why not just banned threads on opinions about mods

They do tend to have at least a post or two (or more) that offer constructive criticism towards us and suggestions for improvement.

All spewed out, with no sense of timing.
But I'm rather fond of it, I really am.
It's best served with candied yam.

And no, we would never ban opinion threads. Some good does come out of them. We're not above criticism, whatever a few seem to like to claim. I think it's important to make sure players understand that they aren't going to be instantly deleted just for questioning how we handle things, or commenting negatively about us.

If those accusations were true, how is it we still have people around to criticize and toss around unsupported accusations? If we were half the tyrants we're claimed to be, that's one of the first things I'd go about cleaning up, and then systematically 'removing' any and all evidence to the contrary. It would be the smart thing to do, no?

NS is kindof like America I guess. People blabbering that they are being controlled and oppressed, when it's right there in front of em. You are speaking damnit! If they were oppressing you you'd be in jail or dead! I love freedom, but not the idiots that are included. I can't recall a time where anyone has done that to another. Most of the time, we step back from the site if we're in an incredibly bad mood or if we just feel that we can't be neutral in certain situations to allow other, more neutral mods rule. Example being that I generally avoid giving judgement on any issue having to do with gay marriage debates or homosexuality in general.

So I guess I'm saying, I'd trust an Admin's answer on this more than a Mod's.

The moderators punishments are usually fair, but often times they target certain individuals. I don't think it is necessarily on purpose, but they will often times hand out punishments to persons on one side of the debate while ignoring similar violations to people on the other side. Given the fact that the mods aren't supercomputers void of emotion, I would say they do a fairly good job.

So I guess I'm saying, I'd trust an Admin's answer on this more than a Mod's.

That's the thing, admin's don't necessarily have more of a say that a moderator. Sal, Pyth, and Ballo are technical admins and don't delve into Moderation issues. The only admins we'd ever have to send that sort of order down to us is either [violet] or Max himself, and really, they've both never had to do it. We have our own checks and balances within the Mod crew.

I am instead a hyper-intelligent genetically engineered hamster called Gerald.

They allow me a keyboard and an internet connection here in the lab (though running along the keyboard to pick out my words takes forever), but otherwise all this knowledge about archaeology, history, and Orthodox theology? That's just me making really good use of Wiki.

I'm getting really bored now, so if only I knew where I was - that much the fiendish scientists in the lab have managed to hide from me - I'd ask you to rescue me.
