People making and buying that too. They're not mutually exclusive. Besides which, if people are buying sequels of sequels of sequels then obviously people enjoy "the same rehashed stuff", which is the point of entertainment media. Well, the point aside from making money for the producers of it.

Fair enough.

I was, in the end, disappointed with Sim City 5. As an avid player of SC4, it looked like EA and Maxis had decided to dumb down the newer edition to appeal to the wider audience. The graphics look cartoony, and the overall gameplay, to be frank, a bit shit.

I don't mind cartoony graphics. Really, what's wrong with cartoony graphics? We're on the edge of the uncanny valley in video gaming. Besides that, they're still working on it.

I just hope that they make it as complex as it was with SC4. Which, they don't seem to make an effort on.

When I said that the gameplay looked shit, I meant that it looked dumbed down and not as complex as SC4.

And I just hate the cartoonishness of the graphics. The relative realism of SC4 was great, yet SC5 just looks ridiculously meh.

Or in Valves case, a decade or 2

HA! I like the cut of your gib.

The worst part about that fiasco is that Half-Life is the only title they have that is actually theirs, that they designed ground up on their own. All the other games? Were either mods or games being developed by studios that they bought out. My guess is, is that that's their strategy; find an up and coming developer that has a promising looking title int he works and buy 'em up and put 'em to work under Valve's banner.

Yeah, but Valve give you a decade's worth of stuff. Have you seen TF2?

Mind you, Bethesda gave us a decade's worth in half a decade with Skyrim.

TF2 is terrible. It was perfect on release and now... I don't even know what it is, but it's not Team Fortress.

I think I played for about half an hour, and when it was apparent that I was shit, gave up entirely.

No there is absolutely no harm in people continuously buying the same shit instead of trying new things in a market saturated with rehashes and remakes.

pffftahahahahaahah yeah.

And if it's a continuation of a series they like, how, exactly, does that effect you? By your logic any of the books in your house by the same author of a series is just as bad as someone buying a sequel of a game they like. Sorry everyone can't be as "hip" as you and go for the "new and interesting games" because you don't like the sequels. Ffs.

They also have Steam and Portal correct? A team outside Valve came up with portal, but THEY went to valve to get it made

I dispute the claim that it's maintained. It crashes constantly. I have to reinstall it, on average, once a week. And the only games I play these days are TF2 and Civ V, so….

This PS3 exclusive looks potentially interesting too. The graphics for it being a PS3 exclusive are pretty damn good.

I'm only interested in Far Cry 3, Fable: The Journey and Halo 4. To be honest, even those games can barely hold my attention.

Nothing terribly exciting that I wasn't already interested in, other than Last of Us. Nice to see some actual new IPs though, I was getting bored of E3 being Sequel Central.

Also, while it's still an entry in a series, Medal of Honor: Warfighter is generally speaking completely different from the rest of the series, other than borrowing the same engine that 2010's Medal of Honor used.

The Last of Us, which is one of the games I (was) looking forward to, is PS3 exclusive. A shame, because I don't own a PS3.
