Found it. Ring and index same size=gay most likely. has to do with testosterone during fetal development and stuff like that.

One study from Rutgers (the place that is notoriously anti-gay) posted on Cracked.com that hasn't even been peer-reviewed doesn't prove anything. There is no relationship between testosterone/estrogen levels and being gay/straight.

QI: Stephen Fry says Gaydar was invented in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s. They strap a man in a chair and show him photos of random stuff and naked women and naked men. If he gets aroused by naked ladies, he is straight; if by naked men, then gay; if he is aroused by photos of random stuff, he is wierd.

The Czechs needed to build the Gaydar engine because too many men were evading Militia duty by pretending to be gay, so they needed a vey Scientific engine.

But without the very Scientific engine, just looking at someone and guessing? Some people guess correct 80% of the time, some people guess wrong 80% of the time. Ideally most people should guess correct 50%; however the percentages will be squewed because some gays make it sooo obvious.

Of course there's a way to tell if someone is gay. Does he currently have a penis in his ass? GAY!

Although, if he does have a penis in his ass, then you should probably leave because it seems like you are interrupting something. Unless you're the one whom the penis belongs to. Then, I suppose, it would be rude to just leave in the middle of it.

Gaydar is sort of mythical, and never foolproof. Some people are just less oblivious than others, that's all.

gaydar is noticing a gay better dressed than you so you jump to calling him gay to defend your poor looks.

Personally, I don't think there is any sure way to actually call someone on sexuality just by looking at them, especially with the rise of metrosexuality and whatnot. Also relevant: http://news.yahoo.com/people-really-mig ... 06742.html

It's not just look, it's body language, speech, and other reactions. Gaydar doesn't have to be just 'seeing someone in a crowd' and thinking "Oh, he/she's gay". It's interaction as well. My gaydar is pretty well tuned. 8)

As is mine. I'm not 100% accurate, but I feel like I can reasonably tell whether somebody I'm interacting with is LGBT or not. But going just by looks, that's impossible.

Some people are good at reading subtle clues and others are not - I don't think it has anything to do with gaydar.
