I'm speaking in historical context, of course. Italy and Spain were extremely opposed to Britain due to the fact that they were Catholic and England was Anglican, the Austria-Hungarian Empire was broken up by the British, and Russia used to have nukes pointed at the Queen

Except that here I am denying it, though I grant you police state were my exact words not yours there you are with your penalties thesis, again! Please submit your evidence.

Though as a personal anecdote I do recall one of my teachers who was heavily involved in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme turned down an invitation to Buckingham Palace to accept an award for it. He turned them down as the timing was inconvenient , this is strictly speaking a clear breach of established protocol yet not only was he not sacked from his job, not only was he not ostracised by the staff of my school but the Palace actually went so far as to come up with an alternative date, which in theory at least they did not have to.

Not saying they are all entirely wonderful people, I have met people they tend to have bad days and bad sides as well as good ones but really not experienced this sense of the Sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of anyone who criticises the Monarchy, Her Majesty or that Charles fella.
