The prime minister Erdogan has brought the whole country into a discussion after surprisingly saying in his party's congress '' “I see abortion as murder… I am asking you: what’s the difference between killing a baby inside a mother’s womb and killing a baby after birth?” for no reason at all.

Erdogan is a radical Islamist (or at least they are his core voters), so of course he is going to say that; just as tired as the same Evangelical Christian arguments in the US.

I am offended by that.

I am a Reform Jew, as well as being descended from Eastern European Gypsies, and I had family who had to live through the Holocaust. Likening something as minor as abortion, the termination of an unwanted mass of cells, to the wanton slaughter/genocide of Jews, Homosexuals, Gypsies, Blacks, Asians, etc. is a remarkably ignorant act. Also, I am abhorred that some of you can not see what the person likening a fetus to a kidney is saying. Let me spell it out.

The fetus can not survive without support from the mother's body. Say you need a kidney transplant. You can not survive without it. Is the person obliged to give you said kidney? No. How are they then obliged to give their body to the fetus to survive?

I do not hate babies. I have a baby brother, and I love them, yet a fetus is NOT a baby. It has the potential to be a baby. However, by this logic, consuming proteins is murder. A protein is made up of amino acids, and these amino acids occur naturally in an environment with hydration, oxygen, and correct temperatures. These amino acids have the chance to form into bacteria and whatnot, and slowly become us. Humans. It takes billions of years, but it could/would/does happen. So, by consuming said amino acids, do we destroy the chance of life evolving?

Some of this may seem like ranting, but the thing is, a fetus is just a growth of cells that is completely reliant on the mother. The growth of cells is in the mother's body. Half of its DNA is shared with the mother. The structure is completely made up of nutrients that the MOTHER obtained. The fetus requires nutrients and whatnot from the mother - and it requires the use of the mother's womb(or whatever other body part, not sure if that's the right one) without her consent. Birth control doesn't always work, she may have been raped, etc. She shouldn't be forced to keep a fetus that will develop into a baby without her consent. If she wants to keep it, she can. But if she doesn't she can get rid of it. I wish you'd stop appealing to emotions and start using facts. The fetus is completely unrecognizable as a human until a large percentage of the way through pregnancy.

Also, if removing an abortion is equivalent to murder, how about what we do in other countries? You know what we did in the Gulf War? How many civilians died? I guess that all of those dead civilians who posed no threat are equivalent to a lot of abortions...

Aborting fetuses with mental disabilities during the first trimester, thus preventing them from ever reaching life, is much better than letting them be raised by a parent who neither wants nor is able to afford to take care of them.

You either have not seen a radical islamist in your life and don't know what kind of mentality they have, or you are just slandering Erdogan without any knowledge about him.
