Funnily enough, I never did understand why the military is always utterly non-consequential in zombie movies.
It just stops existing a few days after infection.

They don't stop existing, they just pull back. Alot.
You can imagine that after a few days of heavy loses, you'd need someone to protect your base and all that jazz.

And right now, I'm not making much sense because I just watched 4 entire zombie movies non-stop. And now, I'm going to go to bed. Terrific me.

The military in Dawn of the Dead becomes completely overrun within the first few weeks, the same is of the army in 28 Days Later.
Isolated pockets of military survivors such as those in L4D or 28DL don't exactly count.

Wait for the Toxicology, for more people/videos to hopefully surface, and for the victim to get a chance to say anything. The Bath Salts, the anonymity, and the convenience of only one video being released in this day and age of cameras are on everything is odd at best - but in the defense of such, we've only waited a couple of days or so since the event. I understand why the Officer is remaining anonymous, he open fired on an unarmed man - that stirs a lot of anger with some people.

In any case, if you're black or homeless apparently it isn't a safe idea to go to Florida. Unless you're wearing very minimal, yet sufficient clothing, at least. Haha, get it? Hoodies... nudity? Yeah...

The Military in L4D was more than just a few isolated pockets. What about the Bridge Finale? The Military seemed organized enough to pull off airstrikes and evacuations?

Deserve or not, the police and military have seen the same zombie movies as everyone else, and their plans come with weapons, ammo, armoured vehicles and people trained in the proper use of those things already accounted for. If whatever sensibleness exists in reality decided to take a break and there were a zombie outbreak, there'd be evacuations and quarantines and soldiers marching through the streets shooting everything that groans "Brains".

They'd ruin the movie. And the actual zombie apocalypse. Look at any "Zombie survival plan" thread anywhere. It'll be full of people who are practically gleeful at the idea of arming up and defending themselves from the on-coming horde. In their minds they'd be trenchcoated badasses, killing with impunity and still being heroes. Tell 'em that the actual professionals will have sorted the whole thing out while they're still thinking of a name for their over-sized handgun and they'll be devastated.

IIRC, the infection had only just struck the South in L4D2, which takes place after L4D1, which begins two weeks after the infection in the North.

As for the Jolly Green Giant from DotD, yes it was. But that was in the early stages of the infection. The truck of survivors that arrives later in the film was supposed to have escaped from Fort Pastor (where the helicopter was supposedly from), which has just been completely overrun. Note that this one helicopter is the single military action of the entire film that is seen directly.

The military and CEDA seem to have fucked things up initially but are getting their shit together by the end of L4D2. The interquel comic shows one military base that's been cut off from the chain of command and has essentially no idea what's going on past the walls of their base. They don't know that bright lights and loud noises attract the zombies, and they don't know that the Special Infected exist.

I've been reading a lot of the comments on Youtube and on news sites. Why are they ranting about 'Unarmed man shot!"? I mean, yes he was unarmed. But if you are watching someone's eyeballs being ripped out and eaten, then his nose being eaten, you may not think about "Oh no, i better taze him!" I would have shot him more than 6 times
It may be a zombie, but they are also reporting the possibility of 'Bad LCD' and PCP. I don't think it's quite time to run for our underground bomb shelters just yet...

Guys, even if somehow there was a zombifying virus, the zombie infection would only last at most a couple of weeks, if not less. Even if infected, the body requires blood for the muscles to function, and the bodies would rot as well. In fact, zombies would easy as fuck to survive. Just snap on a snowplow to the nearest truck and keep driving.
Not to mention that Zombies would also fall victim to the whole 'lack of any energy thing' after walking around, baking in the sun (or freezing), their energy supplies would drop quickly and be eventually incapable of movement.

You're quick to assume I lack the common sense of reading things in their entirety vs skimming and being an ass-hat about it's contents. I said "some people", not all people, not I, and I was most definitely not supporting the issue that people should feel angered about the officer shooting the manbearpig. I actually only ever thought about including that tidbit because of one of the scores of articles I've read over this event had a comment that was only concerned about "yet another cop hiding behind badge and uniform shooting an unarmed black man". It was infuriating for at best considering the statement felt rather ignorant, but you are correct - He walked toward the assailant and his victim, ordered for him to back away, saw the horror unfold and realizing the man was obviously crazed or... not a man, opened fire to hopefully end the gruesome scene and terribly enough... the man continued eating and chewing as if nothing had occurred. So the only logical thing was to keep shooting - admittedly I wouldn't want to be touched nor attacked in any attempt to force the man off. If not for him perhaps being a zombie, he could be carrying a plethora of blood born diseases - namely HIV/AIDS.

It was horrible - the Officer did the best he could do in my own opinion, and hopefully this will not be more than a crazed and drugged nut. However since hearing of it from my sister-in-law on Sunday and the various articles and opinion articles I've read thereafter, I'm fairly concerned.
