Ironic how he is against homosexuality when his Church recently saved several priests from jail over the same act with a child. :|

That... really isn't the same as saying he wants to eliminate the gay and transgendered populace.

It's borderline, though; just as you cannot save the rainforest from destruction without eliminating the factors that destroy it, you cannot 'save' humanity from homosexual/transexual behaviour without eliminating the factors that 'damage' it.
