I never thought Esperanto was so much like Latin. Credo me praeferre Latinam, sed Esperanto malus non est. Latin does look better though. Which is one of the reasons why I'd support adopting it as an international secondary language, perhaps modified so that it has less irregularities, although it doesn't have many in the first place. Another is that it's perfectly adapted to the Latin alphabet. English definitely isn't, and it's not only because there are too many letters for the same sound, but also because there are too many sounds for the same letter.

I will see its merit, if anyone can translate the following word honestly.

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

There are some things that shouldn't be metric. Just like the metric calendar the French tried, a metric alphabet sucks.

No - because then my name would become a series of backward Rs and LMNOs.
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

Does using a matrix count? It had 2*2*2*2*11 possibilities, so 176 isn't that bad. Regardless, that's a fairly simple word. When people have to figure out what in the world ЯЯЯЯЯЯAЯЧLMNOLMNO (11*11*11*11*11*11*11*3*4*4=935,384,208) means (or worse, ЯAЯADЧCЧLMNOLMNOЯLMNOBГLMNOЯГLMNOГ (11*11*3*3*4*4*11*4*2*4*11*2*4*2=1,079,451,648), then they'll give up.
The first word is sussuration (a whisper). I'll leave the second word up to you to find. Hint: You won't

EDIT: Ooh! Even better! ЯLMNOГЯLMNOLMNOLMNOLMNOЯLMNOЯЯALMNOЧCЯLMNOЯCLMNOЯЧCЯЧLMNOЧCLMNOЯLMNOLMNOCALMNOLMNOCLMNOЧLMNOЯЧЯ, which has 11*4*2*11*4*4*4*4*11*4*11*11*4*3*11*4*11*4*11*4*3*11*3*4*3*4*11*4*4*4*4*4*3*4*11*3*11=314,448,545,188,010,903,048,552,448 possibilities.

Anyway, for the sake of clarity, let's just go IPA.

I know. But we should still eliminate letters, not to make it fit in with numbers but because some letters produce the same sound.

Not in IPA. IPA is biunivocal: one letter one sound.
Also, the English alphabet needs MORE letters, not less - there are more sounds than letters currently.

Yes but some letters sound the same:
C, Ch (In school and character) and K sound the same
C annd S sound the same.
Therefore we eliminate c and keep s and k.
The sound ch could be replaced with a q like in Pinyin.
As for words that already use the q but there it sounds like k it can be changed to a k.

I don't think it will ever work because it is clearly a parody of the metric system involving Dan Akroyd and therefore, it was intended as a joke.

No. That's dumb. The metric system makes unit conversion and mathematics using measurements easier, there is nothing inherently mathematical or measurable about language, so it's stupid to apply these concepts to a language.

English is already an easy language to learn, and what more it's the most globally universal, so if anything, the world should adopt English.
