The Decabet, by the way, takes all elegance out of names. And, yes, elegance is still appreciated here and now.

If anything, English needs more letters, It'd be incredibly stupid to do the opposite.

Nah, it was invented by the Americans as a way to take over the world. If it is going to be the global lingua franca, at least change the lettering to adopt the decabet.

The creator of that alphabet is not a linguist, professor of linguistic studies or a lexicographer. He's a comic and SNL is a comedy show so the decabet was created for comedic purposes with no intent of it being a real workable alphabet.

Now, if you can't understand what other people are saying to you, but you can understand what you wrote because you know what it says anyway, doesn't that clue you up that the decabet might not be suitable for communicating with?

Almost every English word has a vowel in it. They're extremely important for recognizing a word. If you insist on only ten letters, I think you are going to need at least four vowels with their own unique symbol.

Unfortunately, I do not really understand the phrase. However, that is because I am just learning the Decabet, even as I speak.

It says:

"This is quite possibly the worst idea I have ever heard"

That's a simple sentence, and you can't understand it. Please stop pretending to be serious about this, it stopped being funny on page 1.

What about schwa? You know which vowels are used to represent it? Every single one of them. Make it a distinct letter, and it will be a lot easier. Like I said; we need more in English, not less. The only "metric" one I'd even think of supporting would be one with one hundred, though that would probably be too mcuh.

Why should the Decabet replace the current English-language alphabet? It has 10 letters, which is consistent with the metric system and the obvious fact that MOST humans have ten fingers. First proposed by Dan Aykroyd at Saturday Night Live at the height of metrication in the United States of America, little did he know that it is actually very simple.

After all today is Prairial, deux, CCXX: and why didn't this sort of stuff catch on earlier? I also hope you metric nuts are doing something to celebrate the lilly too, while you take your socks off to add up.
The kind of middle-class mentality which actuates both those responsible for strategy and government has little knowledge of the new psychology and organizing ability of the totalitarian States. The forces we are fighting are governed neither by the old strategy nor follow the old tactics.
