It is, incidentally, spelled Dr Pepper, without the period. I kid you not.

My nation's name is named after a soda! Sunkist = Sunkistodia!   :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Mallorea and Riva should not resign, but gameplay and roleplay should be kept separate
Speaking of roleplay, check out Sunkistodia's Factbook
This is a theocratic nation that uses NS stats and is in the slave trade

What do you call your soft drinks?

Just softdrinks, soda, cokes... (pains me to say this, lol) pop?

I generally say coke, like most in the South, but, Im picking up soda, just because its more descriptive (ive often sent drinks back when they actually gave me a coca cola when I said coke, lol) and I dont like brand dominance...

How bout you?

I use soda.
Soft drinks is also correct, but less used in NYC.
Pop seems to be a Southern/Midwestern thing in the US of A, if my travels have taught me anything.
Coke is a BRAND of soda. It is a brand of the subset of soda that is called COLA. It is not a catchall word for Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Sprite, Seven-Up, Mountain Dew, Dr. Brown's, or anything else, got it? I'm looking at YOU, Texas! ;)

Odd, I have found that to be more prevalent up here in the northeast.

And don't remind me of people ordering such things a sprite-coke.

Let me clarify:
It seems to me to be a Southern thing, and a Midwestern thing. ;) Not a South-Midwestern thing. Of course my experience of the south tends to be right down I-95 from NY to Sarasota.

"Pop" is mostly Midwestern/northwestern. "Soda" is mostly used in the northeast and California. "Coke" dominates the south. See? http://popvssoda.com:2998/countystats/total-county.html :)

Wait a moment, and what did you expect them to send you, bags of cocaine powder?

Usually Rootbeer or Mountain Dew, my usual drinks...

If the waiter/waitress is a local and you ask for coke, he/she'll be like, "what kind?", since the storm though, we've had a wave of emigration to these parts, so Ive had to modify my speech to make up for that, ;)

Being from Chicago, I call it pop. I remember once when I went to Los Angeles I asked what kind of pop a restaurant had. The waitress was pretty confused...

Also, I should point out that if you ask for "soda" in certain parts of Oklahoma people are going to bring you this.

In Finnish or English?

In Finnish, I call it 'limu'.

In English, I call it soda.

If you mean Coke or ginger ale, etc. it's called "pop". "Soda" is used to make mixed drinks, or even regular pop by adding syrup.
