Actually, it's that the show is hugely biased towards America and really doesn't give a shit about using historical data fairly. Napoleon really only made the mistake of outrunning his supply line, otherwise he'd have been emperor of most of Europe. Washington didn't do a whole lot, and wasn't that impressive as generals go.
