I'm fairly certain they don't.

if they didnt, why would they bother living there? and why would the person who brought them up not mentioned it? we are drawing conclusions from some dude talking about his family.

I don't know maybe they're rude obtuse people who didn't recognize a state ban on gay marriage was their way of saying "fags go home?" Maybe they chose where they wanted to live and refused to be pushed out. Maybe instead of drawing conclusions you could look up North Carolina state law that says "marriages, whether created by common law, contracted, or performed outside of North Carolina, between individuals of the same gender are not valid in North Carolina."

Oddly enough I fully support Southern independence and the creation of an ultra-right wing conservative democratic republic, and even moreso the creation of a independent Texas (my homestate) and would hate to see liberalism of any kind take form...but what's weird of this? I'M A DAMN SOCIALIST...really I are (eh 'third way' socialist but still...) but I wouldn't mind the South becoming the type of nation that republicans would kill for...

No, not all the time. But then again, I'm against any form of organized religion, it detracts from an individual's ability to discover God on their own. That's what I did. Then I watched a special on the Discovery Channel, and became Atheist. Pro-lifing is just an excuse for people to try to clear their conscience. It is murder, I agree, but it's good murder.

All that aside (Don't want to become a thread-jacker now, do I?), I stick with my earlier statement: I love the south. Friendly people, beautiful landscape, and (Minus the whole slavery part) A great history.

A bit too hot for me during the summer , but I've had nothing but good impressions during my times down there either at the places I visited or along the way at gas stations and restaurants. I could definitely see a lot in common between us Midwesterners and Southerners.

Saying the south is full of awful people is like saying afghanistan is full of terrorists. Not everyone is a terrorist in afghanistan but there are more than enough terrorists to make it a place you probably don't want to live.

Indeed, and I suppose it's possible your example regarding drivers' licenses might have Constitutional problems from other angles--I don't know and it's not an urgent enough matter for me to be particularly inclined to spend time finding out--but FF&C isn't one of them.
The American Legion is a neo-fascist terrorist organization, bent on implementing Paulinist Sharia, and with a history of pogroms against organized labor and peace activists and of lynching those who dare resist or defend themselves against its aggression.
