Florida presently, North Carolina for a time, I've spent a few weeks in texas but my impressions there come more from politicians than personal experience. I have had complete strangers yell "nigger" out the windows of their car while I was walking down the street upwards of seven times in the south I have never observed this to happen in the north. My high school had to be forcibly integrated in 1992. I had a buddy my freshman year who went to a high school named for a grand wizard of the KKK that maintains it's moniker to this day. I say with a wealth of personal experience that everything I've seen has validated every supposition people seem to have about the south.

As far as I know, they could. No one has because unlike marriages, the America-hating reactionaries haven't tried to turn driver licensure into a wedge issue.
