Human rebreathers are much less efficient than fish gills. The human genome is much more vulnerable to deleterious mutations than, say, a grass. Since we still operate on energy, and have a somewhat finite amount of it, we're aren't particularly well-served by showing off our awesome water electrolysis rather than our lungs.

Without technological aid is ridiculous. It is our technology that makes us human. To say "without it" You are comparing monkeys to the animal world. Not people.

Other animals have basic technology. Give them some evolutionary time, and they might catch up.

The Emerald Legion wrote:Yes. Which is why uploading is of paramount importance. Need to get rid of this faulty wetware.

Maybe, but that won't stop evolutionary mechanisms. Reproduction and survival will still be of paramount important - the emphasis will just be different.

Yes. We are, at least in the biological sense.

Know your enemy. The fact that you want to abolish life should mean that you are determined to know more about life than anyone else. Otherwise you are spouting opinions based in ignorance. I know for a fact you aren't stupid, so don't act stupid. Familiarizing yourself with basic biology will lend your arguments that much more weight, and you might have an actual shot at persuading people to come to your way of thinking.

If you don't even know biology, how do you expect to know what is biological life (e.g. yourself including your brain, mind, consciousness, etc.) and thus, what to eradicate??

Do sea-squirts have souls? They eat their own brain.

Bah, you aren't hearing what I'm saying.

If you are going to attack biology at least KNOW some of it.
Humans are different to animals mentally but that does not make us a different kingdom or domain from them.
I recall myself suggesting to you to use the term 'inhumanoid' for your weird definition of animal since you use it like invertebrate, it is not a real classification just the opposite of one. Which is how you are using the word 'animal' you take it as 'non-human' or 'inhuman'.
Since you haven't replied to my previous replies.
Are Neanderthals animals?

Ha, that's funny. Please, take away our technology and we are weak animals. Our tech does the work for us.

actually, take away our tech and FIT and HEALTHY humans take the same slot as wolves, only we do better in hotter climates and not quite so well in colder climates.
also, wolves bleed their prey to bring it down faster. humans just Keep Going Longer and let the thing die of heat exhaustion. other animals may be fast enough to get away from humans... but eventually they have to stop. and then they look behind them and the humans are Still Coming and they're like 'oh shit! *dies*'

again, this only applies to fit and healthy humans. you know, the sort who have to hunt regularly to feed themselves. heh. and, of course, humans would much rather use a spear to imitate the wolf, or better yet, a bow, so they don't have to keep running as long... and then they're right back in the tech race.

but yeah, fit and healthy human sans tech? perfectly capable of bringing down any animal who's natural instinct is to flee. (things that fight back or huddle up en-mass? not so much. though for the latter all that means is that you need more humans. and humans are naturally inclined towards forming tribes or bands.)

we don't win fights without tools though, it's true. humans outrun slower hostile/aggressive creatures, climb trees or cliffs or whatever to get away from faster ones who can't climb, use water to mask their scent then hide from faster things which Can climb, and, if in a group and organized and lacking other options, mob anything else. ... if all that fails, then, well... humans get eaten, same as anything else. (basically there's nothing that will attempt to hunt a Group of humans if there's anything else going. only lions and wolves would have a hope... and there's decent odds the lions would lose, while the wolves would win if the humans didn't have a numerical advantage, but the casualties would be high enough that it wouldn't be worth it.)

the other thing is, lots of animals use sharp and pointy bits for fighting... humans use blunt impacts and take advantage of circular motion.... that and grapples. leverage. so, humans are quite capable of being more leathal than most animals in single combat too... difference is, the human has to have learnt about the animal in question. if they have the knowledge of the animal's body, and the strength and training and knowledge of their own body... the animal will lose. (well... unless it's an elephant. with no tech involved healthy adult elephants beat Everything.)

anyway, yes, scientifically Humans are animals. we're not vegetables or minerals, nor birds nor fish.

one could make the case that we are a step above the other animals without much difficulty (any specific reason Why takes more effort to defend), and as you can see in my above paragraphs, one of the english uses of the word 'animal' contrasts with 'human'. but, yeah, scientifically, humans are animals.

Neanderthals are humans. IIRC. Slightly different but still humans.

Maybe not, actually. Human is Homo sapiens, while Neanderthal is either classified as a subspecies (Homo sapiens neanderthalensis) or a different one (Homo neanderthalensis). Given what I've read, I tend towards the latter.

All living things are machines, they all change energy from one form to another.

which has nothing to do with the definition of machine, living things are machines because they are physical constructs created by genes.
