I found this ad in the December 11, 1944 issue and it evoked many thoughts about modern times.
Discuss.

I notice two things it has in common with modern America:
1. It's overt and strong Christian theme (Christmas time).
2. The need for civilians to support the troops in some form.
America seems to embrace Christianity - for the most part - as part of its history. It particularly puts a lot of emphasis on Christmas.
An ad calling on folks to not use the phone? A subtle way of saying "support the troops".
