I would like to assertively assert the assertion that Jocabia is a sentient douche-delivery system. Of course my hypothesis, if true, would mean that the entire way that we look at human rights would be turned on its head. You see, under current common law property regimes, I would be capable of owning a doucebag. But should I be able to own a sentient vaginal cleansing tool? Should his non-human status forestall him from claiming any him any rights? Is our conception of 'human' rights really limited to those of our own species?

If you don't want to talk about Jocabia's penchant for rinsing out the uterine secretions of female homo sapiens, then perhaps you could discuss the link between sentience and rights in more general terms.

A sentient race should only have the ability to instill rights upon both itself and any lesser, non-sentient races below it. Thus, if everyone went crazy and wanted laptops to have rights, then they would.

But if the douche is sentient, it would indicate that it's a separate species from humanity that can think for itself. Thus, it determines its own rights unless it decides to allow itself to be subjected to another race's rules for it.

It's kind of like if a humanoid race of cat people were evolved in a time acceleration chamber or something. They'd be entitled to their own society for being sentient, and would likely determine the rights inherent to their own species and those under their dominion accordingly. However, if they wished to live with us monkeys in our areas, they'd have to abide by the rights we decided they have.

TL;DR - the only rights that exist are the ones we give things, unless they can give the rights to themselves.
