This thread is not the right place to discuss what constitutes an appropriate punishment for rapists.
Please understand, we're on page 89 and the thread has existed for a year now.
We have covered this angle many times over already.
Also some posters in the thread who have experienced rape, have asked that discussions of a violent nature be taken elsewhere as they find it upsetting - and ultimately the point of the thread is to provide a safe space for people affected by rape to discuss their experiences.
Thank you.

There's a plain difference between education and ending the confusion that leads to attacks and that leads to 84% of American rapists not understanding that they are doing something wrong and people who do something wrong knowingly, even when they understand that the person they're hurting is a person and is being hurt, for their own gratification. I wish they could just stop existing. I don't want to help them or understand them. If it makes me a bad person for wishing we could round those people up and send them into the sun on a rocket, I guess I'm not ready to be the better person at this moment.

Ehh...I don't know what you're getting at with this, but this isn't the place to discuss that.

Just saying, there are so many perspectives, so many ideas, such an emphasis on not discounting the humanity of rapists, and I know why and I have to agree to try, but I just don't think it's possible to humanize people when they've gone to that point.

Bear in mind the environment they grew up in, the Congo has been in a state of bloody war for decades, children get abducted to be soldiers and that's how they're raised, think of all the dirt they have to do, all the shit they had to see, that can really fuck with your psyche, all they were probably taught about sex is take what you want in a raid. Even for civilians it's just normalized, it's a really fucked up place, you gotta look at the circumstances

The anniversary is coming this Monday. This weekend is going to be something else. Saturday is Picnic Day in Davis, Sunday is the anniversary of Picnic Day, the night of which this happened, and then Monday is the anniversary is the day I spent all day with the cops and in the hospital. so I'm not looking forward to it, but I've surrounded myself with friends and whatnot. I'm so sorry I haven't been in here y'all, I just haven't had it in me to talk about this kind of stuff.
