While I acknowledge that it isn't going to get easier on its own, I plan on forcing it to get easier, personally.

I always figured that talking about it would just make me feel bad, and while it does, if it's helping other people, I'm okay with it.

I am. Sometimes I feel like it's one step forward, two steps back, but really it's the other way around. I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone at uni, but I have gone by the appropriate offices. The train rides are going better since I '"have permission" to be a little weird. Also went by my doctor, but as far as we got was that I need a second appointment. I have that, and I know these things can move slowly, so I'm glad I got those wheels turning.

I heard about the school shooting this morning and I am just so angry and it's awful. People are going crazy, raping people, shooting kids. Something has got to be done about this violence we are surrounded by.

It certainly does. I wish I had some magic solutions, but I don't. I've started to write I don't know how many posts, but I never post them because the more I write, the more I realise I can't even begin to understand how to make the problem better.

I think your plans of awareness campaigns are a fantastic start. I think the more people speak out, the more people will be less afraid to speak out. I think in the mean time we can be there for each other the better(I mean everyone who cares, not just rape victims or just women, but people that care about other people).

Hang in there and take care of yourself. I wish I had some better words, but I don't. :hug:

Just remember, you will heal, it just takes time. Sometimes too long, and I haven't figured out a shortcut yet.

Well...it's unfortunately how the world works. Nobody knows how to stop violence. Laws are ineffective, education is sometimes ineffective...the only thing really is to inculcate the values that you were brought up with in everyone and we'll see a better world.

I don't know if this is relevant, but it might bear some thought and examination by government and others. At this time I am undecided on this, so don't take up disagreements with me please

I have a friend who was raped, and she told me the first time I met her. It was that blunt honesty that drew me to her as a person. I don't know whether she made a habit of telling people right off the bat, or whether it was just me, but it seemed to have helped her cope with it. I am very thankful that she told me like that, because it helped me connect to her emotionally and to connect to the atrocity of rape on an emotional level.
