Western Moral Superiority?

PostPosted: Wed May 02, 2012 1:28 am

I have to admit, NSG, I think I'm in love.

Please take a moment to watch my lovely future wife's video discussing the hypocrisy of Western imperialist powers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9HxGhIo-6k

Really, it seems rather absurd that Western nations, with so much larger GDP per capitas, and thus the means of actually improving the conditions for their people, don't give enough of a shit about their own citizens to actually improve their conditions, and yet claim moral superiority over nations that strive for the same with so many fewer resources to work with.

And seriously, Pak Jin Jun, sarang hae!!!!!!!!!! <3<3<3

So they have prisons in the DPRK? Really? Who'd have thunk?

All a matter of scale and perspective. Both per capita and total, the US by far has the largest incarcerated population on earth: http://www.prisonsucks.com/

I would rather live in a society where a few live on the street, than to live in a society where extreme austerity measures by the government forces you to starve and likely be shot simply because you live in the countryside.

:palm:

Prisons are for criminals. The link is talking about death camps, slave labour and executions of the " political dissenters ".
The DPRK has sent people to FUCKING DIE because of their poor mourning of Kim Jong-IL.

You are probably trolling, sir. And if not, I want to move to Mars.

Concentration camps are awful places. They are not just prisons.

In a prison, you still have human rights for one...

Hmm, like what Syngman Rhee did? With US support.

Whilst I dont support the actions there, I will have to answer no.

Your article had nothing to do with what I said...

No shit. People who break the law go to jail. What a novel concept.

The link is talking about death camps,

http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/executi ... ted-states

slave labour

http://core.ecu.edu/soci/juskaa/SOCI211 ... omplex.htm

and executions of the " political dissenters ".

(With US support, by the way)

The DPRK has sent people to FUCKING DIE because of their poor mourning of Kim Jong-IL.

You get that off the Onion?

Oh my. The institution that's been at war with the DPRK for the past 62 years doesn't support them. What an epiphany.

Argh. Syngman Rhee. He killed my great uncle because he might have had "communist sympathies".

But I doubt anyone approves of what he did.

A close to systematic killing of a mostly rural population because some pockets of it resisted Syngman Rhee's (at the time illegal) election.

He killed much more than just that.

Yet most of the world still hails the nation he founded as "free" when it to this day still has this law on its books:

Indeed. Terrible bastard. I'm really ashamed to have even been born in the US for guilt by association that some of my "countrymen" supported that monster in the past.

This ^^. Syngman Rhee was a tyrant. As anti-communist as I am, I find the idea to whitewash a fascist murderer of his crimes repugnant.

OP, do you know what you are doing with the dictatorship socialist regime of North Korea? That's called Negationism, and that's truly repugnant.

Hell, even eastern organisations do not support the DPRK. The East West center has a rather bleak view of it http://www.eastwestcenter.org/fileadmin/stored/pdfs/pswp020.pdf and it cites evidence from refugees in both authoritarian china and less authoritarian south korea.

Well, hold onto your fucking hats, because here comes an M. Night. Shyamalan-esue twist...

I support socialism, and with it, the dictatorship of the proletariat! ^__^

Have a lovely day.

Guantanamo is horrible. But comparing it with the DPRK's deathcamps, where women are sometimes fed the corpses of their children ( yeah, I have a link but that's not PG-13 ;) )?

Get real, man.

You always bring up Syngman Rhee, even though what he did was around 60 years ago and no longer relevant in the slightest, unless you think South Korea is still ruled by his zombie?

Oh, so now we're taking political defectors uncritically at their word? Sound about as Fair and Balanced (TM) as Fox News.

Well, getting rid of the sanctions would probably help but that, as you know, comes with conditions.

They should probably give in to the "hypocritical Western imperialist powers", if they truly want their populations standard of living to improve.

A good thing since she speaks for the 1% of the 'DP'RK. Her father is probably a party official, her mother also. So she is fine.

While in the farmlands.
